Is it a bad sign if the interview ends early? I had an interview that I think was supposed to go for 1 hr, but the interviewer cut it off at half an hour. I was really confused because I was prepared to ask more questions and everything... She wasn't directly mean to me or anything and for the time that we talked, she was very conversational and nice. I left feeling totally screwed. Am I screwed?

Not neccessarily. Generally the longer is better, but I got an acceptance at a school where I had a 30 minute interview (actually more like 25) when it was supposed to be an hour.

Thanks ZagDoc, that's very enouraging. I can't help thinking though that it's usually not a good sign... Did your 30 minute interviewer say anything to indicate why your interview was shorter than normal?

Maybe they were busy and had to go. I had an interview that was supposed to be an hour that ended up being 45 minutes, but we certainly talked about a lot of stuff. Then again, I've had an interview that was supposed to be 30 minutes end up being an hour and I was late for the tour. Obviously if they're upset at one of your answers and cut the interview short, that's bad, but if the interview seemed to go well, I think you're probably fine.

Not really. She just said "well, I don't think I got any more questions for you? Any questions you have for me about the school?" and I asked my 2 or 3 questions and we were done.

My 1 on 1 interviewer got paged as soon as I sat down and he had to bolt 30 minutes into our interview. I asked him questions as we walked to the hospital but it did seem rushed... out of my hands I guess

A friend went to a school where they had 30-min interviews, and hers only lasted 10 mins...during which, she was only asked one very general question, and then the interviewer rambled on about himself afterwards. She got in!

We have discussed this topic previously and the general consensus is always that there is no immediate correlation with the length of the interview and acceptance or rejection either way, nor is there any correlation with how well you thought you did and acceptance or rejection either way. (Unless you did something really obvious that offended the interviewer or something!)

My first interview was cut short and I ended up receiving an acceptance letter several weeks later. If everything went well, I don't think the length has much to do with anything regarding your standing as an applicant.
