Hi,

Currently I planned to apply to just 25 medical schools. However, I underestimated the supplementary applications by agreeing to go to 3 vacations this summer which together make up 3-4 weeks of summer. In retrospect it was a really bad decision but I felt guilty after not going with my parents anywhere since starting college.

A lot of the colleges I applied to have had one month gaps between when secondary was received and submitted. In fact, my application to UCSD may have been withdrawn for this reason. Also two of my applications, one to Albany and the other to Temple, I just discovered weren't even submitted last month like I thought they were, because I forgot to certify them.

Currently out of 25 schools only 13 I know for sure I've completed. The rest I've applied to within just the last two weeks or they are really slow at updating, so I have no idea if my file is complete. Fortunately, I have two interviews so far with OHSU and SUNY, but I felt I could've gotten more.

Do you guys think I should add maybe 2-5 more schools? Would it be too late? My stats are competitive at 3.85 gpa with 37 mcat and decent volunteer record.

At this point I wouldn't. Not because it's "too late", necessarily, but more because you have excellent stats and probably don't need to.

Hi,Currently I planned to apply to just 25 medical schools.

This phrase pretty much sums up how screwed up this process is. "Oh, me? I just applied to 20% of all the schools. Do you think I should make it 25%?"

No disrespect, bravo. It's a screwy process. At this point, I don't think I would rush out and apply anywhere else just for the sake of rolling a few more dice. You've still got more than double the schools I applied to without counting the question marks.

That said, if there's any school that's not already on your list that you'd like to go to and didn't apply to, it might be nice to take a look at SDN and find out what they're secondary application would make you write, in case you want to call an audible and send them an application in the next month or so.

But I think you'll be okay. Sit tight and cross your fingers for now.

oh sorry I meant Ohio State University Medical Center

I agree with the other posters. I think you'll be OK. Plenty of people are just getting the MCAT scores right now so don't think you're miles and miles behind everyone else. Good luck!
