So I originally was very selective of my out of state schools and didn't include much from the South East US because most seemed to be competitive. However, I've recently seen OOS people with worse grades than me get interviews.

My gpa is 3.73 and my DAT is 24 so my stats are good. I'm from CA and my undergrad is one of the top 3 schools in the US.

Should I add some OOS? I already have a few: Colorado, Oregon, Stony Brook, Ohio State, Arizona, UNLV, Harvard/Columbia/Penn. If so which ones?

Alabama and Louisville are the ones I've seen OOS people receive interviews so far.

Why add more? Your stats are fine to get into at least one of those.

But if there are cheap schools I missed I dont mind adding some to get into cheap schools. But actually I looked at ADEA and it turns out many South Eastern schools are actually pretty expensive for OOS when you factor in living conditions.

Texas schools are obviously super cheap but no OOS has received interviews from there yet.

Of all the South Eastern schools, Meharry is pretty cheap.

So should I add Texas schools (already have Baylor) and Meharry?

Im leaning towards no though.

From what I've seen it is extremely rare for OOS applicants to get into any Texas schools, even with amazing stats. Also, Meharry is an HBCU, are you a URM? If not I don't see the point in applying as I believe the other schools you applied to are of higher quality.

Ohhh ok ya good point. Alright then. Thanks everyone! No more schools!

That's rich coming from a Cali resident.

Haha understood. I'm just comparing the living expenses thats added to tuition/fees for nonresidents vs. tuition - living expenses for the 2 dental schools I live 20 minutes away from that I believe I have a good shot of getting into.

Yeah, living at home is ALWAYS cheaper. Free food, free housing, in-state tuition.

The only downside is ... you're living at home.
