Hey guys,
It's my first time writing here so please be nice to me 😀

I'm a senior right now, with a 3.98 oGPA, and my DAT scores are: 21aa, 23PAT, 22TS; 250 hrs of hospital volunteering; 30 hrs of general dentist shadowing. I would like to ask if it is too late to apply for this cycle or should I wait till next year and apply?

Thank you all 🙂

That's a rather meager amount of relevant shadowing hours you have there in comparison to your hospital volunteering hours. >100 hrs is being on the safer side. My gut feeling is leading me to think that the adcoms will be questioning your integrity, that's of course if you get interview(s), for pursuing dentistry as you've indicated 250 hrs of hospital volunteering despite your competitive test scores and oGPA. I honestly don't know, so take your pick.....

Good luck.🙂

No. It's not too late. Depends on where you apply, though. If you have the cash and can do a little research on schools, go for it. Your stats are strong. But what about letters and personal statement stuff? Letters can hold things up.

Yeah so far, I haven't written my personal statement yet, since I thought I wouldn't apply this year. And I don't have the cash either, I will have to take loan out. Is it too risky doing that?

If I apply next year, I will start working and saving up the money. Right now I only have 1 class left before I graduate, and I am taking 2 class this semester ( biochem and immunology). Should I hold off that one class (so I can get more financial aid to support myself) and take more restricted electives (like 6-9 credit hrs)? Does it look bad to the adcoms?

Thank you for your responses

GPA verification, LoE uploading, DAT scores.. all take time even after you e-submit. You have great stats. But timing is not going to be in your favor. So if you are set on applying this year, do so within the next two weeks, because submitting the AADSAS application at any given time means your application will be looked at weeks down the road.

It can get quite expensive.

$244 first ds + $90👎 + supplemental fee(s) + interview attire(s) + traveling exp.(s) + etc.(s)
n = # of ds(s)

I'm not an adcom, so I wouldn't know.:shrug:

FAP much?
