Hello all,
I've been reading this forum for a few years now but this is my first time posting.
I graduated from UC Berkeley last year (May 2009) where I double majored in Molecular and Cell Biology and Economics. Here are my stats:

cGPA: 3.4
sGPA: 3.27

MCAT: P: 13 V: 12 B: 13 W: S
Total: 38S

My EC's:
Research associate at biotech company in San Jose for half a year
Research assistant at clinical psychology lab for 2 years
Medical laboratory clinic at a local free clinic for 1.5 years
Research assistant at Lawrence Berkeley Lab for one summer

Most of my time during school was spent on classes since I decided to double major, so I don't have a whole ton of EC's. Should I apply this cycle or beef up my EC's some more?

Thanks

Do you have any experience volunteering in the community? Anything with interaction with patients?

Your MCAT is great, GPA is a bit low, but can't blame you cause you went to Berkeley.

I think you have a good shot at a lot of mid to low tier schools cause your MCAT is extremely high.

It depends on what you want. Getting into A medical school is a number's game at the core; however, if you want a top tier or top 20 school, ECs then play the deciding factor.

What did you do in the lab at the free clinic? Were you paid or volunteer? Did you draw blood or otherwise have patient contact?
Did you have patient contact during the clinical research? How much? What type of patients were they?
Do you have any nonmedical community service?
Any physician shadowing? Teaching? Leadership?
Does your BCPM show a rising grade trend year-by-year?

You have a great MCAT score. Your research looks fine, but whether you're ready to apply depends on some more information.
