Hi all,

So I went to an interview at my top school in mid-November and was told that I would hear back in four weeks. Four weeks later, I e-mailed the secretary and was told that I'd hear back in a few weeks. That was exactly a month ago. So it has been eight weeks. Some people have already received their official decisions.

Is there anything I could do? Should I be concerned? How long do people typically wait until they hear back?

To be honest you should be. Schools typically send out acceptances within the time frame they say (I found that out the hard way). The longer you don't hear from them, the less chances of a straight acceptance. Think about it, they don't want students they really want to commit somewhere else, so they send them word as soon as they can. On another note, they could also be taking awhile to figure out their wait lists. All hope isn't lost as of yet, but you should start preparing yourself to choose another school.. i hope i'm wrong for your sake

You're completely being realistic and right. Thank you! I still have four more schools to hear back from...

While you should be a little concerned for this school in particular it’s still pretty early in the cycle! They might send them in waves and then after January 15th they might do another wave. Don’t forget that people deposit at some schools but then change their mind when they hear back from somewhere else they wanted to go more!
