Hi everyone. I am new to the forum and just wanted to introduce myself. I am doing my undergraduate studies at Arizona State University. Here are my stats:
GPA: 3.8
science GPA: 3.9
1st dat score: ac: 18, science: 18, pat: 18
2nd dat score: tba 11/29/03
schools applied: unlv and Arizona

I have an interview with unlv next month, but have not heard a peep from AZ. I know that I have a couple of marks against me such as my dat scores, also, by next summer I will still be a semester shy of getting my BS. I was banking on other info such as my work experience, community work, and recommendations to get me through. Now I feel that I should have applied to more schools. I was very excited that the AZ school opened this year and I was hoping to stay in-state, but I am considering adding a few more west coast school to my aadas application. I would really appreciate some advice. Please be honest guys, thank

You are fine buddy. I would, however, apply to more schools. No need to take such a risk. Add a few more schools and you should be just fine. Your GPA and DAT will almost guarentee you interviews at most dental schools. As long as you dont walk into interviews naked, you should be able to pull an acceptance or two.

thanksfor your advice, I will add 3 schools to aadas. I just hope that it is not too late

Wanabe,

Are you done with the pre-reqs? I am from AZ too? I wonder if we have any classes at ASU together?

OP: Your grades are exceptional, AND your DAT scores are just fine for both UNLV and Arizona.

I suspect you'll hear from Arizona shortly. They've only done two interview sessions thus far (~20 applicants interviewed so far).

I can't comment on UNLV (although I was accepted there last year), but Arizona will heavily weigh your community involvement, even to the point of having it take more weight than your DAT scores.

That doesn't mean that better DAT scores won't help you, but if you get an interview at Arizona then it's a clean slate for you, and you're then to impress them.

I would add more schools to your list.

Let me know if you have questions about AZ.
