I was caught stealing at walmart a few years ago but I got it expunged and taken off my record. But would bringing it up in my personal statement and how it changed my perspective on life benefit me? Like wouldnt it reveal character and integrity for showing the adcoms that I have the balls to bring it up, despite the risks and the fact that they would have never found out anyways. Like turning a negative into a positive? Or am I crazy.

LOL. You're just crazy.

Conversation may go like this: "Oh, kid has balls" "he sure does" "so do we accept him?" "No!!! LOL"

EDiT: I just wanted to add that I'm glad you learned something from it, but society in the US is still too prude to accept people's mistakes and see them as learning individuals.

Normally, I'd say no, but today I'm going to go with NO.

I don't think I would have the writing or BSing skills to make that a convincing positive, nor do I know anyone that does... so my vote is "no."

First of all...shoplifting from walmart? Hard to get more white trash than that...

Second, No, do not write about this in your PS. Unless, of course, you were stealing tourniquets to save a man who had been knifed in the parking lot.

Include it or you will have to apply DO or (GASP) CHIRO SCHOOOOLLLL

The answer to your question is similar to the answer to mine: Should I tell my boss that I masturbate to his wife's pic every night ... cause you know ... I want to be truthful about it.

👍 If stealing from Wal-mart somehow miraculously influenced you to become a doctor then maybe. If not, heck no. You'd stand out, but definitely not in a good way.

What were you stealing from Walmart and how the heck did it change your perspective? Well...those people read THOUSANDS of essays and yours will stand out....maybe you could pull it off if you give good reasons and it makes sense.
