Hey everyone!

I was curious if I should contact med schools about my application. I applied to 22 schools (4 DO and 18 MD). I have heard back from 1 DO school and 3 MD schools. I was rejected by three and wait listed by the 4th one. One of my friends has heard back from a couple that I also applied to, but I haven't heard back from 18 schools. I finished all of my secondary applications, so now I'm just waiting on interview notifications.

Should I contact them and ask them about my application?

Thanks everyone!

I've called a few schools. I've only ever called if the school was >2 weeks late in following up with me. For example, if I was told that the review period would be eight weeks, I would call after ten weeks and ask about the status of my application, or perhaps if I never received a "complete" email as I was supposed to I might also call and ask.

One school never sent me a secondary (or a screen out rejection) 2 months after they told me they received my primary. The stated review period was six weeks. I called and checked and was told everything was fine and I should sit tight. I received the secondary about an hour later. I think it is good policy to occasionally do a status check, especially in the situation that you haven't heard ANYTHING from a school for months. I would hate to miss an interview invitation due to an overzealous spam filter.

If you decide to do this, you need to be extremely polite, and you need to do this rarely. If you're rude or you repeatedly call the admissions office, there's a pretty good chance an adverse letter will end up in your file. Make sure you're informed, don't call an admissions office to find out the answer to something you can find on your own. They are very busy, especially this time of year.

When did you apply? If you applied in June or July..yes. If you applied in Aug, Sept, or Oct.. NO.

I finished my last secondary applications on August 28th. I looked at many of my statuses, and they all say complete. Like I said, one of my friends has been hearing from schools a lot lately, and I haven't heard a thing. That's why I'm curious. I think I'll just wait it out?
