Hi,
I have a low score on comlex and i did not take usmle. I will be applying to gas programs this year. My confusion is that if I apply to traditional rotating internship in the DO match will I be still able to participate in the Nrmp match for a advavced of a catagorical program.

My other question is that should I have a backup residency choice, cause anesthesiology is getting much tougher to get in, I am worried what if I only match in the rotating internship or the preliminary program and what are the chances that I will get into a gas program for 2008.

I know that this is a very long and a confusing post but I want you all to understand that I am very worried as to what will happen? 😕 Thanks for your patience.

How low was your comlex score? why don't you want to take the usmle? from what i understand it is easier to get into an MD anes residency than DO mostly because of the sheer numbers of MD programs. with a decent score on the usmle and applying to everywhere you should be able to get in somewhere. if you are restricting yourself to a certain geographical area or a select number of programs you could have problems. pm me if you want. i am a DO candidate planning on taking the usmle and hopefully an anes residency.

The DO match is internship only. So you should be able to participate in the Nrmp for a PGY2, CA1 position.
