Should I list publications if I only revised/edited the manuscript?

I am currently working as a research assistant and my PI has put my name on two papers where I revised/edited them prior to submission. I rewrote a couple of areas like in the introduction and abstract but overall, all I contributed was minor writing corrections. I'm wondering if I should still list these on my application. I'm worried that once they get brought up in an interview and the interviewer finds out all I did was revise and did not contribute to any of the experiments, it will seem like I was trying to embellish.

You're on it, so you are absolutely free to list it. But also know that anything that is on your application is fair game to be asked about. So it would behoove you to know the papers on which you are a co-author as well as possible...even if you didn't play a huge role in the overall study.

If you're listed as an author, you should list the publication. You have between now and your interview to figure out a better way to explain what you did than "editing and revising" 🙂 You can usually say some fluff like "was involved in the conceptualization of the research plan and discussed the analytic plan," which is really code for "I sat in lab meeting" but at least it'll pass a little bit of muster.

Make sure you can discuss the key findings from the paper.
