So in my personal statement, I mention briefly that I struggled to speak and read as a child but that I overcame it thanks to my parents. This would tie in to how I got interested in biology, and I would make it clear that I grew from what I struggled with as a child later in my personal statement.
My GPA is 3.81 from a renowned school but my CARS section is what I have been having the hardest time with on my MCAT.
Would it be bad to still keep what I wrote in my personal statement? Would medical school admissions have a stigma against me for this?
This seems like a fine topic. Many children have difficulty reading and get better. I highly doubt your CARS score will be overanalyzed because of your personal statement topic, and given the commonality of developmental delay, I think the potential empathy you might share with patients outweighs any potential stigma (of which there is likely none anyway.)
