Im a OMSIV interested in EM. I just got my step 2 back and idk if i should submit it. I only have 1 interview so far. Im an average student with average ECs.

People have different thoughts. Some programs have started to not extend invites until board scores are back because people have been failing step 2. Your step one is great. I personally wouldn’t unless you aren’t getting the interviews you’d like. Regardless if you do or not you’d be fine. Yes it’s a drop but it’s still competitive for EM

I have a friend also going into EM. Also dropped between Step 1 and 2. Still getting interviews.

you can keep it and youll get interviews. some programs wanted to see that you took step 2 and if you were above 220 that was a plus. i had a lower step 2 compared to one and it didnt kill my chances of interviews

I am concerned at the fact you have 1 interview. do you have all your SLOE's? are they good? I am willing to bet the reason you have 1 interview this late.

He's saying it's your SLOEs and not your scores. I'd tend to agree. Dropping on Step 2 hurts you more in EM than any other specialty in my opinion, but that wouldn't be enough to leave you with only five invites this late with how good your Step 1 is. I'd say you're definitely in the at risk category with an underlying scathing SLOE.
