Pisses me off.

I have A's in everything, and one B+. And guess what the B+ was in? A STUPID writing course general education requirement. Professor said she doesn't hand out A's because she doesn't 'believe in them.' I have a 3.94 GPA because of that and instead would have had a 4.0.

This seriously irritates me. Out of all the difficult classes I have taken, this dumb writing course holds me back from getting the 4.0. Useless, general education professors like WRITING trying to make their courses more difficult than they should be because everyone knows their classes are easy to blow off and are literally a JOKE and an absolute WASTE of time and money.

Done with rant. Have a nice night everyone.

Why would you retake? Even if your school allows you to replace grades, you'll still have to report it on AMCAS. Sorry, but you'll never have a 4.0 in the eyes of med school admissions committees.

Since Physician's are required to document each and every patient interaction, having good writing skills are key requirement to be a successful doctor. So I suggest you stop being pissed off about a "stupid" course which was likely one of the most useful classes you will ever take. Additionally, showing how pissed off you are and wanting to retake a B+ because of a hit to your 4.0, would show a seriously OCD/perfectionist who uses bad judgement. Retaking it might be the biggest red flag on an application, especially for those adcoms who search for the arrogant perfectionists. So here is my advice:" Move the F*CK ON to the next thing

Well, it actually was a pretty stupid writing course and I stand by that. And you know what? It isn't bad judgment. The professor I had didn't even teach us writing throughout the sixteen week course. She was extremely political, constantly bashing President Trump, as well as police officers. I have family members who are police officers and this class was nothing but offensive. Additionally, she would constantly swear and was very unprofessional.

there are more important things in life to stress over... move on my friend, you probably won't have to deal with that professor ever again.. and there are ****ty professors in college and I'm sure there are ****ty professors in med school so learn to deal with them

Losing your 4.0 GPA is like losing your virginity...there's a time for it. This was it.

Seriously, do I have to reach through the electrons to smack some sense into you?

Lol. I guess you could say orgo took my virginity then.

Pick and choose your battles. I get that the teacher probably sucked, but you gotta move on.
Medical doctors can't dwell on every minor issue (e.g. insurance claims, disgruntled patients, etc.)

This is peak SDN

I've seen worse in real life. Ever see someone retake an A- in orgo to earn an A? I've seen a guy actually do it.

Bad judgment is posting this thread and following it up with a bad attitude. Bad judgment is bashing your professors in public because you got a B+.

You are going to come across people with power above you who will be political, pushy, arrogant, etc.

You just have to acknowledge their opinions and move on.

The only exception would be if she was grading your opinions. For example, if you said "cops are great" and she marked you off for your opinion, then that's an issue.

Actually, OP please go ahead and retake that and kindly report back here when you are in the appropriate application cycle. We need more data points for students in your situation and the corresponding outcome.

If this is true, then she sounds like a POS. But it’s still bad judgement to retake a B+.
