Should I retake the DAT? When?

Dear beloved SDN people,

I would like to hear what your suggestions are, in regards of retaking the DAT anytime soon.

Here's my situation. I am being waitlisted at 2 different schools (Western University and USC). And, it seems that I will not hear from them until their next wave of acceptance in the first or second week of May.

As you guys may know, the application for next cycle will be available on June 3rd 2013. If I have to reapply, I would really like to be in the first batch. But, I don't mind retaking it later if I have a better reason to do so.

The question is: Should I spend $300 to schedule a DAT retake for the end of May anyway? or should I wait a little longer before I sign up for it?

My stat: 3.39 sGPA 3.55 oGPA, 19AA/17TS(all 17 T__T)/23QR/23RC/19PAT.

i would probably take the test at the end of june. you'll have enough time to study, and you can wait out the WL situations. wait until mid-may to reschedule

That's a tough one. If you find out the first or second week in May about your acceptance, I would definitely not take it until after that date if you happen to not get accepted. Don't spend money you don't need to spend.

If you have materials already that you can study from, it would not hurt to study, though.

Wait it out. I really hope you get in!

I think, this is probably the best way to do it. I wonder how big of an advantage if I am in the first batch. Am I really going to have any advantage?

That's a tough one. If you find out the first or second week in May about your acceptance, I would definitely not take it until after that date if you happen to not get accepted. Don't spend money you don't need to spend.

i mean yeah, you'll have some advantages at certain schools. schools like usc don't start reviewing until early-mid july. so it all really depends. i think you'll be fine as long as you get your scores up

If you are reapplying, they probably want to see something improved from you, so I would def take DAT again if I were you

I'm in a similar situation. Wait listed at NYU but reapplying. I do plan to take the DATs again around the end of June/ early July but would it be a better to submit the AADSAS application as soon as the cycle opens on June 3rd with the date of the upcoming exam or wait until I actually take the test to send it in?

I would also retake... 17 TS is low.
Umm, you can retake it anytime between June / early July period. You can still apply in June and just specify that you have a retake scheduled
