Hey guys,

I took the GRE today and made the exact minimum required score 297 combined (1000 on the old scale) 144V and 153Q.
I have a 3.9 GPA, a 3.8 Pre-Req GPA, and over 300 hours of volunteer work in three different settings, and still working on more.
My top choice is Washington University which is very competitive from my research.
Do you guys think I should retake the GRE, or that my high GPA may possibly may make up for it being at the minimum?

All advice appreciated!!

Thanks

I think it depends on what you are willing to do. I took a chance and did not retake my GRE I did not break 1000 and I did not have as high of a Pre-req GPA that you do and I got in!! It was definitely a gamble though and I applied to a pretty good amount of schools, mainly because I knew that I had a low GRE score. The schools that rejected me told me that it was because of my GRE and the one that I am attending told me I nailed my interview! So, it really all depends on where you are applying and what chances you are willing to take. I HATED the GRE and did not want to put myself through taking it again. So, that is what made my decision. I told myself that if I didn't get into this time around I would retake the GRE and try again but thankfully I got it and love it!

That's strange. I got a 149 on v and 148 on q. Same score, but when I converted it I got 1040. Maybe they weight v and q differently. I would take it one more time. Can't hurt

thanks for your advice guys, I decided I'm going to wait to see how my writing score is and if it's at least a 4 not retake it, after calling different grad schools to get there advice about my score.
