So I planned to take biochem this upcoming fall so that I will be able to get the ball rolling on the MCAT and take it sometime between January and March to leave the summer after my junior year open for various ECs I hope to engage in. Unfortunately, my school only offers 2 sections of biochemistry each semester and do not allow more than 50 seats per section. Due to my registration time being slightly later than I would've preferred, I am so far back on this waitlist that there is an extremely slim chance I will get into the class for the fall.

I really want to stick with my timeline of MCAT preparation and ECs, as well as find extra time to engage in activities and clubs that tie into my major in Sociology, so I am looking into taking biochem over the summer through my home institution. However, this course would be offered online because of the Coronavirus. I know that summer online science courses are not highly regarded by medical schools. However, I feel that the current COVID-19 situation will lead medical schools to question what students did Summer 2020 less than they normally would, as we are all looking for ways to do something productive with this time as our internships/volunteer opportunities get cancelled.

Yet another concern is that I took Gen Chem I and II last summer, as I decided to join the pre-med track at the end of my freshman year after taking biology and wanted to make sure I was on track to take Organic this year (which I did). I got A's in both Gen Chems and both Orgos and my gpa is a 3.83.

I know this is a very expanded and complex question, but I am just looking for opinions as to whether or not people think it would be particularly harmful for me to take this biochemistry course this summer, given the pandemic situation, my school's annoying registration system, and previous summer courses I have taken.

TL;DR : To stay on track, I want to take biochem this fall but cannot register for the class for that semester. Would it be harmful towards my med school application to take it online through my home institution this summer?

Given the current circumstances, I am inclined to believe it will not be detrimental.
