To give some important context to this question, I am in my second to last semester at my community college and nearing the end of journey to my Associate's degree. When I first began taking classes at community, I had no idea where I was headed, and only just recently figured out what I wanted to do with my life. I am a biology major and want to be a cardiac surgeon. I have been prompting myself to take the necessary steps to succeed by recently landing a job in an emergency room.

With all of that said, my question persists. Should I take premed at my community college? I do not have any of the prerequisites required to do so, but was wondering if it would be good to stay for another two (or however many years it takes) years to save money, as I know that community colleges are rather inexpensive compared to 4-years. Is it possible to knock out my 4-year credits by replacing them with premed courses? If so, then it'd probably be in my interest to simply move onto to the 4-year premed program.

Any and all input will be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Complete your associates and transfer to a 4 year. If you have already taken some pre-reqs ( which you probably have considering you are a bio major ) just finish the ones left at a 4 year. Some schools will look down upon you , but short of retaking the pre-reqs at a 4 year there isn't much you can do. Avoid the schools that do not accept/ look down upon cc credits during app season

So I took all of my pre reqs at a community college because it was cheaper. I then transfered to a 4 year and majored in biology, so I was able to prove that I could do well in science courses at the university level, specifically upper level courses.

If you will be transferring to a 4 year after and majoring in a science subject then I think you'll be fine.

If you plan to just do the prereqs at a community college then transfer to a 4 year and major in a non science-heavy subject, i.e. English, Liberal arts, etc. then it might be an issue.
