I have already taken Organic Chemistry 1 once at my Community College before transferring to University of Maryland. I got a B in the class.

This semester, my first at UMD, I decided to retake Orgo 1 because I've heard from many people that the material taught here is very different than what I was taught at CC.

However, I just failed the 2nd test in the class. (Got a solid B on the first). Typical story, but, I decided to study out of the book for this test as I usually do, and the teacher put a lot of twists on the questions which he showed examples of in class.

Now I have a terrible average, should I just drop the class and take a W on it? How would that look combined with a B?

Well yea I would have a "W", but I wouldn't be taking this course again if I dropped it... I already have a a B for this class on my transcript so I would just stick with that.

I would simply attend lectures till the end of the semester so I could keep up with what they're teaching.

it wouldn't look too pretty if you dropped the course and never retook it at a 4yr uni.

but personally, i would drop if it was mathematically impossible to get higher than a B+. talk with the professor and see what s/he says. maybe there will be finals forgiveness or something. who knows?
