Heh! I've just always liked mythology. The only D&D I did was watch that cheesy cartoon. Although, I was a MUD addict in the mid-90s. Shhhhhh.

I apologize as I don't know what cartoon you speak of nor what MUD is.

some of you guys are so creative with your usernames!

I just have curly hair and it's always been my most identifying feature. Not too inspirational.

I turned around and asked a guy behind me what name should I pick. This name is what came out of that conversation.

UCF Knight born and raised in South Florida: pretty self-explanatory...5-6-Ace/9-5-4/3-0-5 represent:hardy:

Multi-User Dungeon! How young are you? 😉
OMFG MUD. My sister used to play those things all the time at the expense of my computer time.

God... even graphical RPGs take way too much reading/thinking.

hmmm

Im brown, and eh, Dont really know how i got the magical part.

HAHA. My first year of medical school I lived with 6 other guys. 6 of us were 6'0"+ and white. One guy was Indian (not native american, from india) and 5'6". We called him our "little brown friend".

I remember (kinda) having "magical brownies" during UG! 😎

Punahou '96!

So at my UH interview, Dean Izutsu was like, "So why don't many people from Baldwin go to med school? Didn't your high school prepare you well for med school?" I really didn't know how to answer him. By that point, I was so turned off UH, I didn't care about the interview anymore.

my mom went there. so did barack obama.

Lots of people go/went there (on Maui, all the rich people went to Seabury Hall) ... which is why, if you're on facebook, you may see the "Yes, I'm from Hawaii, but no I didn't attend Punahou or Iolani" groups.

I think lots of people in public school just don't tend to leave Hawaii, which is why it seems more common to see Punahou and Iolani.

Scary thing though, my parents spent more on 4 years at private school for me, than my college cost.

The winter of my sophomore year in college I was on jedimud or holomud from directly after class, around 3pm until about 6am - STRAIGHT THROUGH. Then I'd sleep for a few hours and go to class, and come back to MUD again. But hey, I was in Michigan, and what else are you going to do during the winter? The funny thing was that no one ever believed I was really a girl. This was in 1993-94.... Ah, good times.

I've studiously avoided such things ever since. It's a slippery slope. I heard about....errrr....what is that virtual world where people are actually buying "virtual real estate?" Yeah, avoiding that like the plague. It could be the end of me. Wait a minute. And what exactly is SDN? 😱

Asian. 🙂

Hmm, from Hawaii...not Pacific Islander... Asian...

日本人 ですか?

Oh yeah: any of you Hawaiians know BJ Penn personally or any of his family members? That'd be pretty damn cool if you did.

I was telling one of my friends about an online world I was going to make where people bought real estate, houses and even special powers with real money. I thought I was going to get rich but it turns out I was beat to it. I think the game is called "Second Life"

I saw a precipitous drop in my 3rd year grades after I started playing Star Wars Galaxies. I sold my character for $400 right before they made the game suck and everyone went to WoW. I am staying far away as I love fantasy more than Star Wars.

I remember when I was in high school, my friend told me about these pathetic sub-humans who get off pretending they are animals; it's called Furries. Now, this is mostly done in real life, but they had an online community for it, with a nice RPG interface (not some crappy forum-based game).

So my friend, some other kid, and I all joined up and went around asking to be whipped and solicited various other sexual favors. It was hilarious; we were trying our hardest to get banned (they said no vulgarities... right; it's for people who find animals arousing, what do they expect?). I just remember being in some area that looked much like a dungeon with some cat-female-thing, and my friend staunchly arguing with her that she let herself be mounted by him. She was pretty quick-witted, though, and was able to see through our ruse and knew we weren't "real," Furries. I think the ol' Furry Police threw us out and I was banned, forever more.

Ah, reminds me of freshman year and how my friends and I got into Starcraft. 🙂 Good times!

I college for me it was Half-Life all the way!-I dominated all my friends and most people online in that game. I also competed in tourneys for Quake III Arena but wasn't quite as good at that--usually got 2nd or 3rd. I loved Starcraft (can't wait for II) but was much better at 1st person shooters than RTS. I was often challenged to a post-Half-life Starcraft games for revenge. This was similar to how my HS friends would challenge me to post-basketball golf games. I average about an 80 . . . on 9 holes. Also got into D&D in college and loved that. It was funny when I "caught" all my Half-Life buddies playing the D and they were so embarassed. I guess they thought that a guy who could actually talk to girls couldn't play D&D but I was hooked from day 1.

Nope, try again! 🙂

Considering there are probably 3,000+ ethnic groups that are from Asia, I'll stick with the biggies:

汉人?
Pilipino?
Người Việt?
한인?
คนไทย?

I'm about 95% you'd be one of the above; although hell, you could be a Malay, Mongolian, Hmong, Burmese... the list goes on.

The first time I played Starcraft, it was past midnight at a birthday party and I installed it and joined a multiplayer game. I had ISDN back then so I thought that I was awesome. When I saw little purple zerglings, I was like... aww... they're kinda cute... and then they started destroying my Terran buildings and I quit the game as fast as I could. Starcraft II looks excellent and I can't wait for it either.

In college, I always went back to CS:S eventually. It didn't matter what other game my apt was hooked on, so it was the best $45 I've ever spent. These days, I'm still into shooters and just finished Bioshock but with the Company of Heroes expansion out & World in Conflict, I'm enjoying RTS too. The Crysis beta should be done downloading soon and I'm eager to see what that's like, as well.

I LOVE LAMP!!!

[Translation: I have no idea what the f*** this 1337 speak means. I feel old and out of the loop, even though I'm younger than the person you are responding to (TRA).]

Do you mean LARP? (Live Action Role-Playing)

Once 1337 speak is known by all it is no longer 1337 . . . er, elite.

I love that show. LARPing is fruitier than Liberace.

Where do they find these people? I seem to know the stuff that both the beauties and the geeks are supposed to know. Maybe I should go on there as a one man team.

Wow this thread is derailing itself. 🙂

I only liked playing RTS games against friends - go online and those strangers kick your ass faster than you can say "but you're 15 and you live in your parents' basement!"

StartingOverZ because I'm a career changer and because I'm 26.

Isn't that the sad truth? The only time I feel like I'm worth anything is when I own my GF's little bro and his 12 year old friends at first-person shooters.
