NYU asks for a signed photo, but Idk if that's mandatory.

It's a good idea to write your name and AADSAS ID number on the back of your photo in case it gets separated from the application.

At schools where a photo was requested, I saw they had it attached to my application during the interview. Probably helped the adcoms to attach names with faces and keep all the applicants straight.

I dont remember which school it was, but when I applied last year, they specifically asked me to sign across the bottom front of the photo. I think everyone is different.
