What does Signing on bonus exactly means?
Suppose you are hired for 175K/annum and you ask for SOB (15K) so will it come from your entire 175K or will it be in addition to 175K ....means for 1st yr your salary wud be 190K....can anyone explain this to me!!!

Depends if its a gift or a loan. For some places, a bonus is just that - a bonus, extra money given when you sign to attract a better candidate. TO me, it's a sign that they are having trouble recruiting. Find out why.

If it's a loan, it will come out of your productivity - you start out in the hole to them, owing them money.
