Silly question for BCPM

Hey,
so this is kind of a silly question for the AMCAS forms. (please try not to laugh) When our CGPA and BCPM is calculated, do we designate which classes are Biology, Chemistry...yada yada?

Or does AMCAS decided which classes go under the BCPM GPA?

Or, do we decide? If so, is it possible to list ONLY strict BIOL, CHEM PHYS and MATH? Can I omit the PHGY (physiology) from the BCPM catergory if the class marks were less than ideaL (and only count it towards my CGPA)?

No, you can't omit physiology for the BCPM. Physiology is strictly listed under Biology in the AMCAS application sheet.
Also, for now, you can label which classes belong to which group, but AMCAS will verify later, comparing with your transcript, to see if you have made any errors. They will make the corrections accordingly.

DiP is right, but that's not to say that you can't "sneak" some stuff into (or out of) your BCPM GPA, depending on how it appears on your transcript. I would leave Physiology in, though.

Most likely, yes. However, just to make sure, verify the AMCAS application worksheet.

You will designate it, and AMCAS will reserve the right to change it. It is very unlikely that you would get away with omitting physiology as a BCPM grade. The other way around is a little more lenient, I think. I listed two Econ classes (Stats for Economists, and Econometrics) as MATH instead of BESS because they were completely stats courses. However, I didn't try to squeeze in any other Econ classes, despite heavy use of Calc and Stats because they had names like "Price Theory" and "Economics of Finance" and "Development Economics."

Did they change this back to BESS? I realized that I didn't do this last year, but I want to do it this year...

Nope, it was good to go. I don't feel guilty, either, because it was legitimate and I got A's.

With something as cut and dry as Physiology, probably not going to get away with not including it.

I however had a bunch of upper level math classes with obscure titles...Intermediate Probability Theory, Matricies and Eigen Vectors....

These all made it through as "Engineering," while some business stats classes made it through as "Math."

Just be concious of what you are doing. Knowing that the more you flirt with the line, the more probable it is they will increase the scrutiny on your classifications. Just my two cents.

Oh excellent...I definitely did well in those classes as well...
