I applied this past cycle and didn't get any acceptance so far. At this point, I am planing for the reapplication in June. But during the semester of 2015 fall, I took only two classes part time while working. I took ecology(B) l out of interest and English 2(withdrew). I retook English 2 during the winter and got an A. This spring I am not taking any courses.

So by the time I apply this June, my gpa will go down a little from 3.79 but not too much since I only finish 7 credits after last cycle. Is this a very bad sign on my application ? Is there anything I can do to repair this such as taking some courses full time during summer and next fall ?

Thanks. I appreciate any advices.

You seem to have a good gpa, why did you feel the need to take more classes? What are your other stats like?

Ideally, if you take classes post-bacc you achieve A's or mostly A's. Your gpa seems fine without any additional work, but dental schools like to see solid grades from your last few semesters of classes. Since you haven't been accepted this cycle, I would call up schools and ask for feedback. Ask them how they might view the classes you took this last year. With your gpa, I'm not sure that it's necessary that you go full-time with classes, unless schools think there's something lacking in your science courses.

How many and what schools did you apply to?

Above average GPA, what was your DAT?

Thanks for the replies. My dat is 23/25. And I ve got average letter/ECs/PS/lookings/taste and horrible interviews.

I am just worried that the coursework I took in 2015 fall will hold me back when I reapply since I only took ecology. ( out of interest) Now it's obviously too late for me to take classes in spring. I am just wondering if I should take more courses full time this year after I submit AADSAS or if I should focus on improving something else?

With a gpa and DAT like that, I feel like your concerns should be focused elsewhere. How many and what schools did you apply to? Where did you interview/waitlist status?

I got 5 interviews out of 20 schools that I applied and got wait listed at 4 and another coming up. But right now i think I have to start planing for reapplication. The classes I took won't affect my gpa much, since there are only 7 credits. But will this light course load raise a red flag on my application ?

If you have already graduated then you do not need any more coursework, a 3.7 GPA along with a 23 DAT is fantastic.

What you need to do is get more service/volunteer hours or work experience along with improving your interview skills.

Don't worry about your gpa at all; this is nowhere near a red flag. Adcoms understand that people can't stay in school forever and that you can't continue taking courses indefinitely for a variety of reasons. What's more concerning should be the non-numerical aspects of your application (Your numbers are fantastic, don't worry about them). Definitely reach out to your wait list schools from time to time to express your continued interest by call/writing letters/etc. Other than that, should you not receive an acceptance this cycle, you should focus on extra curriculars and writing a great personal statement as well as being better prepared for your interviews. That being said, the acceptance season is far from being over and with your stats, I definitely would not give up so soon.

Thanks. I ll try to reach out to my wait list schools and see what I can do at this point. I think I should start writing a new personal statement after next interview. i am trying to figure out how to write a mind-blowing PS. Haha (read it somewhere else)

Perhaps you had grammatical errors in your PS or application/secondaries. Did you put a lot of time into them? Your numbers are stellar and even with average EC's/volunteer, I feel like you should've gotten more interviews than just the five you received. Obviously, since you haven't heard back/were waitlisted at the schools you interviewed your interviewing abilities will also need some work...
