Letters are out!

If you haven't gotten one yet just relax. Last year I got mine 3 days before my friend did

Well,I got one...I'm sad---I didn't get an interview. 😡
They claim if anything changes they'd let me know....I'm so irritated. I don't know if I should call them to find out why or not...

Geez. But on the positive note I got into Mercer today....

Congrats on Mercer! and you should call SIUE and find out why

There is a really nice woman there named Connie. Call the SIUE school of pharmacy and ask for her. She will dig up your file and most likely explain what happened.
Anyways, Congrats on Mercer. At least you know now you gotten into pharmacy school 🙂

Thanks for the encouragement, guys. I really wanted to go to SIUE because I liked their program, plus my parents are here (they both have cancer) so I really didn't want to be far away from them. They're happy for me, but I know they probably wish I wasn't leaving 🙁...And I hate to put the burden of helping them on my sister...

I am soooooo happy for you! I know that you wanted to stay in your home state and around your parents. Are you declining every other school now that you were accepted to Mercer?

Yeah connie is pretty quick with responding to emails and such. And I met up with her once and she told me all the classes I needed and told me everything I needed to do to prepare so she is very resourceful.

At this point, I am still open and waiting on UMKC and St. Louis College of Pharm (that one is a long shot, but they have been in touch with me about my application). For now, I will probably go for Mercer, but I'm hoping I'll here something VERY SOOON from the other two schools...I have interview invites for Belmont and Lipscomb, but I may decline those since I did like Mercer as well.

So Connie emailed me back and said that one of the courses I re-took did not transfer in, so my original grade was used. I feel like if the Admissions Committee knew only ONE class was in my way, why didn't they just contact me and say, "hey this won't work", ya know? Everything else I had taken transferred in okay. If I had known that, I would have retaken the class this spring semester....

Wow that really stinks! Or at least they could have told you that then you could have taken it this summer or something...

I wouldn't count on STLCOP. They don't let many transfer students in

They really don't let any transfers in--I'm just surprised they contacted me inJanuary, and then they were in constant communication the last month and a half about the school and my application. They asked me to submit a supplemental that was due on the 5th, but I don't know. They expect about 10-30 slots this year for transfers per the transfer coordinator...Pretty wide range

Yeah--I thought the same thing too. I hope to hear back from Connie about my proposal...Could I take the class in the summer, but still perhaps at least be interviewed???
Nothing beats asking so I'll know.

Are we supposed to bring a resume to the interview? I was reading stuff on the forum about interviews and some people mentioned resumes...

I talked to a girl in one of my classes who didn't get an interview and she called the school to see why, and asked for ways to improve her chances for next time. The average GPA for the people who got interviews was 3.69 and PCAT was 65. They like people who have bachelor's degrees to see that you can do well in upper level classes. They like people who go to SIUE, then look at Southern Illinois, then just in Illinois, then they look at out of staters. Hope this helps.

I'm interviewing on the 22nd. I'm already in at one school, so the pressure is off a little bit.

I didn't see anyone with a resume last year at the interview. The two guys I know that also got an interview this year aren't bringing one and neither am I.

LECOM-Erie, PA

It's a three year program and I'm a non-traditional student (with an unrelated b.s. from SIUC) so I'm torn between leaving the area and getting through school a year earlier.

I'm new to the site, I just had my interview at SIUE yesterday and it went amazing! I love the school and the staff, everyone was so friendly and informative. This is the only school I applied to bc my PCAT scores were pretty low, I was shocked to even get an interview. I think someone posted that's for the interviews average pcat score was in the 60s and gpa around 3.65 and I can assure u my scores were lower. I guess I just got lucky, I didn't think I had a real chance but after my interview I'm definitely in the running. FYI for the peeps that interviewed ur odds r better than u think. Out of the 200 invited applicants 25 declind and out of the 175 that accepted 20 didn't show up so now u are in a pool of 155 applications shooting for 82 seats. Thoses are great odds! Goodluck everyone...

I interviewed this week also. I love the school, and it is also the only place that I applied. I love that only 155 people interviewed, and you know that all the people that get in won't accept. I also had a low pcat score, but I had a high gpa. I am so excited I can't wait til april 15th. Good luck everyone!

The letters went out today!!!!! I just checked the website, good luck to everyone!!!!

anyone get a letter yet? today I got a call from siue and they didn't leave a message and I have no idea what that was about! I tried to call back and it says the number was disconnected.

Nope I still haven't gotten it and I didn't get a phone call either :-(. That suprises me that a call from siue would come through on a Saturday. Calls are usually good news! Goodluck again, we should have the letters by Monday.

Yeah I was thinkin...why would someone be calling me on a saturday?!?....who knows.

Still no letter for me, I can't believe its taking this long and I'm in IL... Oh well, patience, patience...

I received my letter in the mail today, ACCEPTED. I'm also accepted to UIC, now I have until tomorrow afternoon to decide which one to pick...

Just got my letter about 20 minutes ago, wait list 🙁

Anyone hear how many wait listed people usually get in.

I am hoping I still have a chance because its pretty low on the list I think.

I think I read somewhere that they got in the 20s last year for the waitlist... I hope I get my good news tomorrow... Stay positive and be patience prepharmgirl

I live 25 minutes from SIUE. What is up with the mail!!!

What number are you? The list varies from year to year. Last year it was 23 and the year before somewhere in the 30's. They project it to be near 30 this year.

Hey Ptown7 - choose UIC for sure!

Rosiak- Any insight on why UIC for sure? I'm finishing up undergrad at Southeast Missouri, so the reason why I'm high on SIUE is because I went to school with almost all St. Louis area people and I'm more familiar with the area.

Breaking out of your comfort zone can be a good thing. Plus UIC has a pretty solid reputation.

UIC has by far the most reputable program in the state of IL. Tuition is reasonable and you are right in the middle of a great city. If I got accpeted to UIC it would be my first choice, SIUE is the only school I applied to bc of my low pcat score. I'm surprised I got this far but I did really good on my interview so I think I'm in the running. Prepharmgirl that sucks, I'm in chicago so its expected. PS I think the postal service is playing a trick on us hehehehe

Did Dean Gupchup send out the letters and did he hand sign these too? I thought that was so cool that he took the time to sign each one of our interview letters.

He does sign the acceptance and waitlist letters also.

Yeah. #13 is definitely getting into the school. They have never stopped a waitlist before #13 ever so I think you are pretty safe 🙂

One of my best friends was #13 last year as well and he is doing pretty damn good in pharmacy school right now. Congrats 👍

My mom doesn't listen and opened it smh... Good new and bad news... Bad news I am on the wait list... Good news I'M #12!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I'm so excited, I'm pretty confident I'll get in... I can't believe I got this far with my low pcat score it was under 40 (I was sick the day of the PCAT and barely got through it), but I KILLED my interview and writing assignment and had a decent GPA.
