Yeah - I don't think they put too much weight on GPA and PCAT. They definitely look more towards the interview 👎

Well thats a good thing for me I guess lol... I guess they want you to be able to communicate effectively since that's a big part of the job. Sometimes people are so book smart but can't interact with people. Did you get in this time around?

I'm not sure. My letter hasn't come in the mail yet. I don't think I got in to be honest... lol. My GPA/PCAT is a lot higher than their average and I am a people's person but I don't think I did too hot on my interview.

I don't know. We'll see

I just got my letter in the mail, and I was accepted. I have to confirm by April 26th and make a $300 deposit.

I'm excited. 😀

I was waitlisted at number 31. That sounds kind of questionable to me. Anyone know how many people they waitlist and/or have any thoughts on the chance of getting in with this number? I would think it would be last minute if at all, but I would appreciate hearing your predictions or any knowledge you have from past years!

Congrats to everyone who was accepted and/or made a good waitlist ranking! Way to go!

31 is pretty questionable. I would absolutely look towards what your going to do next semester for fall 2010... But don't be too surprised if they call you. They have admitted 5 classes so far (this coming up on the 6th) and they have moved past 30 a couple times.

Esp since a few schools in IL have popped up I would expect the list to move a tad bit further than before. I would give yourself a 50/50 chance. Best of luck

I spoke to connie today, she said 17 was the lowest num they ever hiut on the list and 33 is the highest which was last year. There is CSU that's open but its still not fully accredited, now that siue is fully accredited more people might accept. Connie told me I should be optimistic with my 12.

Last year was 23

I could be wrong but I could've sworn she said last yr it hit 33... Oh well... id be a little nervous if I were in the 30s... its def not impossible though!

Thanks for all the info and support! I kind of figured 31 on the wait list as 50/50 too, (given the number in the class) but it is nice to have everyone's perspective! At a larger school, it would be better odds! :xf:

I wonder when number 33 got notified! Day before orientation maybe? Yikes!

Anyone have any idea when they usually let the people on the waitlist know? Would it be a little after April 26 for the low ones on the list?

Wow. Great news!

Congratulations
CONGRATS!!!! I spoke connie today and she said they will notfiy waitlist people after the 26th, that's the deadline people have to accept. At that time the will call, email and send a letter in the mail right away if they get to ur number.

I'm still waiting to get my letter ... 😎

I got accepted too but I am not familiar with places around SIUE... for those who get accepted, are you guys going to live in one of the housings or go out to seek an apt... I am so confused now :scared:

They are going to send out housing stuff after you send in your deposit. I lived in Evergreen before. It was kinda neat...it is like a dorm for upperclassmen and graduate students. I lived in a room by myself...it had a refrigerator, stove and kitchen sink in it and i had my own bathroom which was huge. It was super expensive though. They have other types of set ups in evergreen that are cheaper... like where you can have 5 roommates and there are like 4 bedrooms and a kitchen and living room. There is also a set up where you have 3 roommate, 2 bedrooms, no kitchen... Then there is cougar village, which is just like an apartment, not a dorm. I lived there also. Living on campus is nice because you don't have to worry about driving to school or anything, but there are also lots of rules. Which can be a good thing. Also you might get stuck with a weirdo roommate(which happened to me) and that is not fun. The only way you can really switch roommates is if you find someone that will switch with you. There a lot of apartments off campus in the area too. Edwardsville and Glen Carbon(city next to eville) are really nice areas. There are also a lot of little cities nearby(15min drive) with super cheap rent.

They gave us info about the different housing options at the interview including the prices. Most grad students and professional students live in cougar village. For your first year I would recommend you live on campus so you can get fully acquainted with the school and campus. If I get in I'm def living in Cougar Village, I want my own bedroom I don't think I could room with another person I need my space.

I would strongly advise living off-campus. In Evergreen and especially cougar village there are just way too many distractions and it's really noisy there. Your Thursday night study sessions will sound like an Usher concert ... lol.

I would definitely live off-campus. There is a way to find roommates within pharmacy school, you will probably have to ask the question to Connie or the pharmacy front desk. Living in Edwardsville and Glen Carbon (literally adjacent to Edwardsville, like a 2-5 minute drive away) are a little pricey but it beats the heck out of living on-campus. Rent+electricity+water/sewer/trash+internet is around 300+60+40+50 = $450/month give or take $50 or so PER ROOMMATE

If you live by yourself swap out the $300 rent cost to about $450-500.

LMAO @ it sounding like a Usher concert... I plan on living off campus after my first year but I just need to get acquainted with the school which is why i will choose to live oncampus the firt year. If my waitlist number hits that is :xf:

Yeah it can get really loud...like neighbors playing music all the time...people in the hall way being noisy...and there really isn't anything you can do about it if it is during the day

Thanks for the advise! I am actually thinking about shared bedroom in one of the housing options because I am new to there. It may be good that I can get used to the campus environment sooner plus I do not know anyone there 🙁... that may be a good option for me to meet some new people...

Now I just have to fill out the fafsa and hopefully the loans will cover all my tuition.

I would consider letting someone move in. But not just anyone. I'd be pretty discriminatory, to be completely honest.

Letter still hasn't come in the mail yet.

But I went to the school earlier and they told me that I was accepted. 🙂

Congrats, Roziak! You've been a great source of info throughout the interview season, so thank you! It sounds like you'll be joining some of your friends who are already in the program. That's awesome!

Thanks. I'll keep my fingers :xf: for the list to go up

For those of you accepted into the school there is a SIUE school of pharmacy class of 2014 group on facebook that you can join.
