If an ER faculty fills out the SLOR, do they also need to write a letter or recommendation? The reason I ask is that there isn't too much space for comments on the SLOR. Maybe that's a good thing. Thanks for any info.

Nope. The SLOR IS your LOR (hence, S-LOR). It doesnt' leave too muhc room for comments but the PD's prefer the SLOR to a letter anyways (plus its easier and quicker to read). I had two of my EM attendings fill out my SLOR, and the rest of my LORs (Trauma Surgeon, Pulmonlogist) were regular old letters.

If the attendings have anything to say about you, they'll usually put it at the end of the SLOR form - both of my attendings wrote comments on mine.
