what is the smallest pill/tablet/capsule that you can think of?? and what is the size of it? i guess you can compare it to an object or an O of a particular font size, etc.
This will tie into my personal statement so any help will be appreciated!

right now I am thinking NTG tablets but even that is too big.

Metformin 1000. 😛

OK, just kidding. I haven't worked in a pharmacy in a while so I'm having trouble remembering. There is a drug with very very small, oddly shaped tablets. It seems to me that the strengths are all very low as well. 1.25, 1.75, etc.

Ring any bells? Am I just making this up?

EDIT: I think its Coreg 3.125 I'm thinking about.

the lowest dose of armour thyroid maybe?

This also gives you something else to talk about in your personal statement- that is, if you smell really really bad.

The answer is Dostinex (Cabergoline) and was Colchicine 0.5mg by Abbott which was d/c'd

ranbaxy's morphine sulfate 10, 15, or 30mg, maybe. They are itty bitty little white cakes, about the size of the "c" in cakes and maybe 2cm thick.

and they totally look like tiny marshmallows or dinner mints!

I'm gonna say furosemide, those suckers are tiny.

armour thyroid 15mg is the smallest.

what is the most annoying to count? prometrium 100 and 200 mg. they roll around the damn tray.

Even more annoying... benzonatate. (btw, how do you guys say that word? )

Te-ssa-lon. Just kidding. 😛 Ummm...ben-zon-uh-tāt. At least that's how I've always heard it. 😉

Funny girl!

I think I've been saying benzO- gnat- ate or some weird combination. 😉

what about levothyroxine...isnt it dosed in micrograms?

I would have to say levothyroxine. I was working on inventory last weekend and had to count bottles that had 800+ of all the thyroid meds and those things were tiny!! I was not happy that day.

so which one comes out on top? has anyone in here actually seen every one of the pills mentioned so far and can do a quick mental comparison?

Levothyroxines are about twice as big as Coreg 3.125

nitro is pretty small.

i absolutely love the appearance of prometrium 100 because it's pink and round 😛

Lorazepam 0.5mg? Those are so tiny that when we had Baker cells they somehow managed to end up sneaking past the little door and ending up on the floor.

OK thanks guys for the response. I'll just pick one from the list and put it on my personal statement. =-)

ah not so much, they're lemon shaped at least, i counted some today. we have an automatic counter at work, so no tray to roll around in.

I think its time to break out the "This thread is useless without pictures"

My vote goes to colchicine

I haven't seen too many pills, but from what I remember over the years, claritins were pretty damn small and melted in your mouth in case you couldn't swallow them (my cousin couldn't even do so after drinking like 3 glasses of water).

What's the largest pill you've ever seen that make you question peoples' ability to take them?

Nitro 0.4mg is the smallest I've seen, but then I'm just an EMT, so I haven't seen many. 🙂

hctz 25 mg tabs are pretty small and annoying as hell to count.

i was going to say lorazepam...but coreg seems to be the smallest

None of you people have pictures, I refuse to believe any of these other medications exist. Somebody should take the 20 minutes before closing and compare all the pills mentioned in this thread.

I'd do it but if I tried to enter a pharmacy right now I'd probably get arrested.
