Just got on, got rejected from NJ and Howard, accepted at UVA. Message me if you're thinking of UVA!

I really bellieve this is His Happening because I got rejected from the sites i didnt want to go to including the one where i know some ppl running the program! The only one I got into was UMDNJ!!!

judging from everyone's results....it seems there is no guideline for getting accepted...even low gpa's can get in somewhere....maybe its just all about your essay
 
I think that is a very true Mabreu. I got in to all three of the schools I applied too and I never thought that would happen. My Gpa including college classes I took in High school is a 3.0... At my regular college it is way higher than that BUT since they asked for all transcripts you ever took at a college my gpa got pulled down. Not to toot my own horn but my essays were extremely well thought out and from the heart and very interesting. I felt as if they are most definitely what got me in. My teacher and the doctor I shadowed also wrote me some amazing letters of recommendation. I know that is also what gave me the edge. So I definitely think it is much more than just your GPA
 
OMG!!!! it still says my apps are in review..This is killing me I want to know so bad since ya'll are finding out.. Congrats to all the ppl that got accepted already..

you should probably try calling them. because they did send out an email saying that everyone that applied by feb 1 should be visible on the website by now

Is everyone being accepted for the Medical Program?
Has anyone heard back about the Dental one?

I applied to Houston, Duke and Yale... I just got accepted to Houston but the other two are still blank. Does this mean that they haven't put up their decision yet or that I got rejected?

No I haven't heard from any of them...I just called and they said that everybody will find out, by the end of the day..so u still got a chance..
 
Does anybody know the stipend for the Howard program?
 
NORCAL.. I guess I could have wrote this on ur facebook but I was on here.. are you sure the stipend for Columbia is 1,000? I know duke is 750

Haha, no problem. Yeah, that's what my friends who have attended the Columbia site in the previous years have told me. But then again, NYC is a pretty expensive place. They also received $100 to assist in travel. You can always also apply for the SMDEP Travel Scholarship for even more aid.
 
Anyone know the stipend for yale? Is it rude/inappropriate to call and ask? I've got it narrowed down between UVa and Yale. I'm torn. Any opinions?

Also has anyone received e-mails from their admitted sites or do they send those out once you confirm?

Personally, I think it's inappropriate to call and specifically ask about their stipend because the program is already free and most of them provide meals everyday and also offer travel assistance... you're best bet is to go to google and type in "yale smdep stipend" and click on the old forum results.

I have confirmed my site but I have not received an email.
 
lol I am truely blessed as well!!! My top choice was the only site that accepted me!!! I was so disheartened about my chances when I read that those who had superb stats were rejected. I feel so lucky c=

Yale: Accepted
Duke: Rejected
Nebraska: Rejected

I think they are final they have to be..I think the remaining spots will just be given to those that applied after feb.1

I will probably choose Houston, b/c it works out with a kids camp I want to work at in AR.

yea i emailed them and they said itll be running by the evening time..maybe for those waiting to chose a site itll be helpful

The same is happening to me. My status still says "Application in Review". I called them today, just before lunch, and they took my phone number, my last and first name, and they told me they would check and call me back. But by this hour, they haven't. I'm so nervous. My app was completed before Feb 1st, I don't know what happened. I hope they don't keep me waiting until April, since I did everything on time 😕
 
Hey, I just checked my status. I was accepted in Houston and rejected from UWash. UVa still appears as "---". UWash was my first choice but I'm so glad I was accepted at one of my options. I still would like to know the result from Virginia before making any decision :xf:

-I'm Hispanic (Puerto Rican)
-GPA 3.45 from a big big university
-Major in Biology.
-Sophomore
-two LoRs, one from Organic chemistry professor and one from my biology professor. I don't know how strong they were since I never had the chance of reading them.
-Lots of extracurricular activities 😀

I'm really excited!!

UVa was my first choice because I'm a VA resident and would love to go to UVa for medical school. However, Yale is awesome and I was fortunate enought to be admitted there. I think I'm gonna confirm Yale tomorrow once the links work next to the confirm button!

safebet, I did the same thing and couldn't find anything I have a feeling it will be lower than some of the other stipend amounts I've seen posted here for other schools. I live in the Houston area and I think the cost of living here is a lot cheaper than it may be in places like NYC or California.
 
my smdep view status page says " Not Accepted- 02/02/2010 12:23:34 AM" for both texas and wash u. Why did they reject me so early? my application was only completed on 1/27 and I had to resend a transcript which was only received on Feb. 1st. I'm kinda confused about this.

You need to call them IMMEDIATELY and let them know that....if u feel that u were not given a fair chance to be seen by the admissions people...then u need to let them know what your case was...i honestly would not let it slide.
