Guysss!!! I really need help choosing between Nebraska and Case Western. They seem so similar, and both seem pretty attractive to me. Does anyone know what the stipend for Nebraska is? Both of the website aren't detailed enough for me to decide =[

They really do seem similar in many ways. However, I have a good friend here on campus who went to the Nebraska one this past summer and she LOVED it. She got to do tons of shadowing around the hospital and said she made many connections with important people.

There's a sample schedule on Case's website on what your day will look like everyday and I thought that was pretty neat...I confirmed at Nebraska this morning. I think both sites sound good but you might want to check out Ohio and Nebraska tourist websites since you really don't have anything else to go by.. 🙂

OMG got accepted to Columbia!!!!!!! and im def goinggggggggggg is anyone else up here?

and for those who say Howard is JUST for black ppl... HA! I got rejected from there soooo. chew on that 🙂

yea mabreu328
i just finished submitting my application earlier today also....i chose Nebraska, Louisville and Case.....hopefully we get in!!!...all these acceptances are getting me hyped! lol

my smdep view status page says " Not Accepted- 02/02/2010 12:23:34 AM" for both texas and wash u. Why did they reject me so early? my application was only completed on 1/27 and I had to resend a transcript which was only received on Feb. 1st. I'm kinda confused about this.

haha, I was rejected from UCLA at around 4pm on 12/08/2009 and I completed my application on 12/07/2009

futureMDali....im from new york....and even living here i am amazed about what this city has to offer....if you are not from new york..and looking to go to a really competitive ivy league school over the summer....if i were u...i would choose Columbia hands down.

Thanks Doc91! I am originally from Miami florida but now I live in a town with 15,000 people.. I think new york for 6 weeks would be AMAZING.. but Duke also has an amazing program! it is a tough choice. thank you so much for your insight

Yale, UVa, or Duke? what would you pick I think i'm really split 33.33333%.

I say Yale....if u go to Yale's program site they look like they have argueably the best program out of all the sites....but then again that's just my opinion on it lol

hey anybody going to UMDNJ?
all the people i asked said that they loved it!
so excited..hehe

Ok Thanks but I'm new to this site so I didn't know it was mentioned before

No problem, I guess I kind of have the expectation that newcomers review the previous pages of this thread before asking questions. Nevertheless, the $1000 stipend is sweet and reasonable for there are tons of things to do in the expensive city of New York City. I've only been around parts of Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the Bronx over the years and certainly am excited to explore this city in depth.

Yea I'm from New York but I moved to Georgia about 5 years ago. But I'm still excited about this opportunity and being able to stay in the city 😀

The Nebraska program gives you course credit whereas Case does not. I think you'd find a tighter, close-knit program at Nebraska and more of a metropolitan feel in Cleveland. If you want the course credit, pick Nebraska--however I would probably pick Case.

I don't think the Nebraska site gives you course credit, I'm pretty sure that's for Louisville.

Saw people do this in the past so we know who is going where. Just add your site to the list and your name underneath and keep building onto the list-

I have a question, is it true that going to a specific SMDEP site will work in your favor if you plan on applying there?

I wouldn't say it would guarantee you an admission or anything. But many of my friends have received secondary applications and eventually an interview and acceptance to the site they attended. I heard that the admissions personal at Columbia really keep in touch with the SMDEP scholars after completion of the program, so they definitely remember you in the end.

Yeah, my links are gone too. If you actually just go to the smdep homepage and click on a program site, there's a link to go to the actual school's smdep website. If there isn't, you can always google for it.. The information is the same.

My link is working for Columbia... but not for howard or Duke...

I read Columbia's letter and they only give you 500.

Hi everyone! My name is Morgan and this is the first time I'm posting on here. I just got accepted to UVA and I am pretty excited about it. I am a freshman at Western Kentucky University with a 3.86 cumulative GPA with a 4.0 in the sciences. I am also in a sorority (but I'm not a typical sorority girl).

I am excited to meet everyone that is going to be at UVA with me this summer!!
