I took an Introduction to Chemistry Class and it had a separate lab grade. The class was 3 credit hours and lab 1. I got a D in both the class and lab.

I took a Principles of Chemistry without a lab and got a C. This class was only 3 credit hours.

I have just finished General Chemistry I with a combined lab for 5 credit hours. I received a B+.

Could my General Chemistry I grade replace the grades I received in Introduction to Chemistry and Principles of Chemistry?

That's a good question. I assume you're asking because the course descriptions for all three classes are nearly identical, with the exception perhaps being that Gen Chem goes into more depth within the same curriculum. My understanding is that you can retake a class 100 times, and the most recent attempt will replace the others. However, if the Intro and Principles courses are NOT nearly identical, the Gen Chem will only replace one (the D). There's been a lot posted on grade replacement over the last few months. Check that out as well. Good luck!

I assume gen chem is the normal gen chem for majors. if the the first two are the same (as in the very first sequence of classes for chemistry majors), then you will be fine. If they are the chemistry classes that non majors take to see what chemistry is, no it won't work.

Introduction to Chemistry is the pre-requirement for General Chemistry I.
Will I be allowed to replace this course?

Principle of Chemistry is a course for non-science majors. I assume I'll have to bite the bullet on this one.

That's not necessarily true. It's all based on course description (from the catalog and even department syllabus, if requested). If the non-major Intro to Chem is very similar in scope and content, just easier or one less hour per week (for example), then Science level Gen Chem very well could replace it. I discussed this issue with an adcom directly, since I'm looking to replace "Principles of Biology I" (non-major) with "General Biology I" (major). The colleges designation of major-nonmajor is not considered. The course content and curriculum is the determining factor, as explained in the college bulletin and course syllabi.

In short, OP, there is no pre-approval given whatsoever. That's very frustrating given the commitment of time and money for retaking a course. If I were you, I would call AACOMAS directly, explain all the ins and outs of your situation, and see what they have to say. Good luck.

No. Prereq won't work. The only people that can for certain answer this is AACOMAS. Not an adcom, not a student, not an advisor. So e-mail them.
