Everyone is arguing over the impact of this bill. A lot of people are saying that its a bad idea to go into medicine once this passes. Someone brought this up in one of the other threads so there might as well be a poll, are you still going to go to medical school? I will gladly take any of your acceptances. :D

Like I've said this will be at most a mitigated hit. Physicians might get a reduction, but I'm thinking that there's a possibility that we might actually have a increase in Med school spots as well as a decrease in tuition. < Optimistic speculations of course>

I'm going to law school.

I don't want to graduate with debt, matched only by that of the US gov't, and earning $40K/yr. This WILL happen for docs effective tomorrow..:rolleyes:

I'm surprised two people have said no...why are you still here?

Lolz at the people who answered no.

Yeah. Right.

For those of you saying no, what are you going to do instead?

Sarcasm is hard to detect on the internet. Please tell me this is sarcasm.

I'm kidding about law school, I'm actually going into porn..:D

rofl i actually laughed at that one. its still too early for us as undergrats to tell anything. we should atleast wait for the bill to get bounced around for a bit.

I am NOT going to be a doctor now! I am going to get a job shoveling poo! That would pay me better then what physicians get paid when this garbage is passed!sarcasm smiley doesn't work at my job :(

Afte going through with Orgahellll....anyone would be stupid to turn back now

I haven't been through the whole process, but I'm pretty sure there are tons of things way harder/worse things than orgo, standing between orgo and and MD

Stayin'.

So much trouble over four letter additions to your name. A "D" and and "R" in front, and a "M" and a "D" in the back.

Haha. These results are exactly what I expected. I would really like the people who said no to discuss their alternatives. I'm actually guessing that the No's are actually more like probably's.

I think the majority of responses will be "Yes," this is a medical forum.

But, to bring up something not covered by many places, I think more physicians will split their time between their practice and some other side-project. I know I will if the salary forecast is negative (which I sincerely don't think it will be).

It's not that I am greedy, but I would like to be able to afford for my child to get a better start than I did. I don't plan on having her pay her way through school and incurring hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt if she decides to get a doctorate in something.

LOLOLOLOLOLOL at the "no" responders.

Please, switch off the pre-med track now and make some more room for those of us applying next cycle. Woo hoo!! :p

I am. I'm gonna try to steer my career path toward business. It just sucks because I just shadowed all these doctors at a very prominent hospital. I still might apply but I'm going to try to take more business courses. I'm definitely getting a job after I graduate instead of going straight to med school. I'll decide then.

The 'no' people will still apply... and then lie during their interviews about how the really do care about people and truly do want to help them....

dual degree....MD..then an MBA. maybe hospital administration
