So how does it work if you want to apply early but MCAT score not in?

I want to know the specifics on how this works:

I want to submit my application on June 1-3, however my MCAT score won't be available till the end of June (my mcat date is may 24th). I was told to apply to one school that I am most likely not going to be accepted to until my mcat score comes in? I am confused, why would I do that? How do I go about submitting application before getting MCAT score? Is the purpose of this to just have my application verified and ready to send off?

Thanks

Your application will remain incomplete until your MCAT score comes in. You can get your transcripts verified and everything else filled out but won't receive secondaries from most schools until your primary is complete.

Not quite.

Most schools, in fact, WILL send you secondaries once your application is verified on AMCAS, even if your MCAT score is not sent. Most schools don't screen for secondary applications at all, which is why most will come to you immediately after your application is verified.

HOWEVER, it might be in your best interest to do things slightly differently unless you're certain that you're going to get a fantastic score. Submit your application, but only select one school on AMCAS. Then, once you get your MCAT score back, choose your list of schools based on that. Once your application is verified, getting secondaries is simply a matter of submitting that already verified application to additional schools, and you'll get secondaries almost immediately.

You want to get your AMCAS verified early, so do submit by June. Obviously, you're not going to take your MCAT unless you've been scoring consistently within your target range (right?), so add the schools you like. You can hold off on reach schools until your scores come back if money is an issue.

I would say more than half of the schools on my list sent secondaries before my scores came back.Work on your secondaries while you are waiting for your scores to be released so you can be marked complete once it does. You should be able to receive an interview invite as early as anyone else.

It also takes a little while for your application to be processed (11 days for me), so the gap between that date and when your scores come back isn't really that big. I would definitely go ahead and submit your AMCAS early.
