So I have submitted my primary. Now, being "early" means...?

Having secondaries completed + having AMCAS have all of my letters (for pilot schools) processed by the end of July... if applicable?

That is the impression I have gotten. If there is a more accurate statement, let me know 🙂

you are behind in the ball game boy/girl!

Shemarty already has amcas primary verified, and 3 secondaries completed, you better catch up

Lol shh, I know I'm being neurotic. I just found out one of my science professor's letter won't be done for awhile still, so I'm worrying a bit. I think she said it'd be ready on the 4th, meaning it won't get mailed to AMCAS until the 7th (as it is my last one, the rest I'm sending in, for pilot schools that is, are all ready).

I can't believe I made myself so conspicuous that someone actually cited me in another thread. 😳

Actually I found out from my last LOR writer that his letter won't be in at my school's career center until July 1st.

Oh no! I'm falling behind!! 🙄

So anyway, submitting secondaries this early doesn't actually do me any good, besides having them off my chest. At least it lets me focus on the other secondaries that show up in my inbox once more schools review my AMCAS rather than doing the entire pile all at once.

That's exactly why it does you a lot of good.😀👍

heh I was kidding, and I just noticed you finished FOUR now, wow, my AMCAS isnt even verified yet, and I haven't even started thinking about secondaries 🙁 I wish every med school was like harvard/MCW, no essays, just take my money which you are gonna take anyways 🙂

I actually only finished 3. Columbia, Yale, and Wash U. I'm still stuck on the Hopkins "adversity" and "not in the majority" essays.

sheesh, my school does committee letters and they get done end of august. hmph 😡

I never understood why committees don't write committee letters super early (like in April / May), since they know that everything is rolling, so the earlier the better. They want their students to get into great med schools because it reflects well on their premed committee. So you'd think they'd do everything in their power to get those letters written way early.

Yea, I don't know. My school has no committee...

Don't try to play the humble card now.

You're the classic attention-***** and you know it. 😉

End of august was the earliest that our school would send out committee letters b/c they wouldn't send it out until having a mock interview, which they only offer in the fall... mine wasn't sent out until mid-september, and some of my friends didn't have theirs sent until beginning of october b/c they couldn't get an early mock interview

You get the secondaries in the mail after a school "accepts" your primary application, right?

Hmm, the internet is tricky. I can't tell if you were joking there or not. (So, I don't know if I should be defensive or laugh...)

You're just fine. I'd imagine "average" for submitting secondaries is probably August to early September.

I submitted mine September - November, and it went just fine.

Yeah, most of mine were in in mid-September. I won't say the cycle went fine, but I'm quite sure that was because of my GPA, not when I submitted my secondaries.
