SO, we don't send seperate DAT scores to schools?

I get that AADSAS get my DAT score from my own DENTPIN.
Is that it? We don't need to send official DAT scores to dental schools we are applying to? Or do we wait until they tell me to do so?

I'm guessing you still need to submit your scores to each school beyond your aadsas application. When you registered to take the DAT did it ask you which schools you wanted to send your scores to? I doubt that with the new dentpin the ADA will give up the extra $25 fee to send your scores to the schools of your choice.

Ah, the question that will never be resolved....but I'm guessing DENTPIN does everything for you. No need to send them separately (even though that's what the Supplementals say)

You still need to send your scores to each school. The only thing that the change does is they import your DAT scores directly from the testing center, instead of you manually entering them on your AADSAS. Must have been people boosting their scores or something, but you will still have to send official copies to all your schools.

I think AADSAS and ADA are deciding on this problem right now, actually. I called them on last friday and they said they have meeting in that afternoon to decide how actually they are going to send DAT score 🙂

thank god. ive been reading everything gdamn thread about sending DAT scores and still uber confused. hopefully it gets sorted out by the time i take the DAT in july ...

I called UF and was told there was no need to send a copy of your scores from ADA because AADSAS will be reporting the official scores from my application. I was also told each school may be different, so contact them and ask.

I just got off the phone with AADSAS, and they said that there is no need to send your Official DAT Score report to the individual schools (all is done through AADSAS), BUT you do still have to (through ADA) assign each school as a designation and pay the $25 per school... Which, to me, this was a little confusing still. Can someone help decipher? (the guy was very short and rushed with me over the phone) Thanks!

I called ADA (who were trying to rush and cut my conversation short). Yes, you still need to pay the $25 to each school (might want to call individual schools first) to have official scores submitted.

But on the AADSAS application, you just enter your DENTpin so you don't have to manually enter them (probably due to some former applicants messing or inflating their unofficial scores to AADSAS).

I've said this in many threads already, and this now seems to be the general consensus:

1) Release DAT score reports from ADA to all schools of interest ($25 each school).

2) Use DENTPIN on AADSAS to have your DAT scores inputted from file (unlike last year's AADSAS, you now do not need to manually input your DAT numbers/scores).

Summary:

You still need to pay the $25 fee to the ADA. The DENTPIN DAT score entry is meant to be a "convenience" for you so you do not need to enter your DAT scores manually on AADSAS.

Don't pay to have your scores sent to UF though... 😛 (they said not to do this)

Each school needs to be contacted to find out what they want. Doing this may save you money (but does take some time).

I agree.

But if you don't want to take the time, and want to be sure to have all your bases covered, may as well pay up.

That's interesting because the supplemental info for UF (and every other school I checked) on AADSAS says to send official DAT scores when you submit your application. Maybe that information just hasn't been updated since the DentPin is new. It's probably best to call each school and ask, and if you have the money, it can't hurt to just send them anyways just in case.

We need to save $$$ for interview😱. Maybe just spam the school🙄 and ask them instead ...

Isn't it funny how they made score report more inconvenient by trying to make it convenient?

Wait, so when I go on ADA to by 25$ per school, it asks for a designation. Is this where I put in AADSAS's address and just have them all shipped to them?

I dont get this whole DAT score thing. So in order for it to show up on Aadsas, I have to go to adea and request it there? or is it just for them to send it to the schools?🙄

I think we've all realized that the Supplemental Information has not been updated to accomodate this Dentpin thing... that's why everyone is confused.

I'm definitely calling the schools to make sure. Saving $25 per school is definitely worth my time (but at least I don't have to call the original 5 I designated on the DAT)

From what I have read we do not have to send seperate scores through ADA to the schools. Iowa, Indiana, and Temple (maybe more, these are just some that I'm applying to) don't even ask for scores directly from ADA this time, neither does San Antonio I believe. This morning I called Tufts, Boston, Maryland, Michigan, Creighton, Buffalo, Case, and VCU. Every one of those schools told me not to send it directly from ADA, that they accept it through AADSAS. Direct quote from the Maryland lady: "Since the students no longer report the scores and AADSAS imports official scores directly from ADA, we view these as official scores. It doesn't make sense to send them again from ADA, and it saves you a little money!" Not that I believe she truly cared about saving us money. I still agree that individual schools should be contacted, this is just the information I have found so far. AND, I still don't trust it 100%, probably more like 95%, because it is totally possible that the admissions is just a little confused about this whole situation anyway. I sure know I have been.

When you called VCU, do you remember who you spoke with? thanks.

I spoke with Victor. He was the most confusing of all those I spoke with. Victor made it sound like I had to "pay the fee to take the test", then they could view my scores on AADSAS. Well that seemed like a no brainer to me, you have to pay the fee to take the test in order to take the test in order to get a score! So I tried to understand if he meant pay the $25 per school and include VCU, and I think he was confused and thought I meant check the box in AADSAS and apply to VCU. He's the reason I lost my 100% confidence in not sending the scores. HOWEVER, I just got off the phone with AADSAS. They said that any school we apply to, through AADSAS, will be able to see our official DAT score report from the ADA - electronically. To AADSAS's knowledge, the school's will not receive a hard copy of our scores unless we pay the $25, BUT they said every school "to their knowledge" is complying with this new system and is ok with the official electronic copy from AADSAS. When I call the schools back AGAIN, I'm going to double check that this is the case, and that they are ok with an official electronic copy as opposed to the hard copy. Hope this helps, I'm still trying to figure it out.

okay. I think my game plan is to just contact each school i'm applying to. that seems to be most logical in terms of covering bases/saving money if i can.

also, does anyone know if we can add more to the "5 free schools" for sending your score? i took the DAT last summer and at that time had no idea where i was applying... so i just chose 3 (in hindsight, dumb), can we add more for free or is it too late?

I don't believe you can change your designation at all after you've chosen. Two of the schools I listed I'm not even going to apply to any more, oh well. Hopefully with this DENTPIN thing I'm not going to have to spend any more though *crosses finger*

I called AADSAS yesterday and they said, they are going to upload ALL the DAT scores on next monday. SO as long as you guys put your DENTPIN number and the date of birth, you guys should be able to see your score on next monday. Also, some schools want separate copy of DAT score, and that's when you have to go to ADA website and request for separate copy to those schools. To make sure which school wants extra copy of your DAT transcript, I would either go to their websites or call the dental schools directly. I hope it's clearer 🙂

are you submitting your application before you test or after??

I just emailed AADSAS and first they told me they should be uploaded by June 14th and then the guy just emailed me and said he was wrong and its prob going to be more towards the end of June...

I just received this same email that AADSAS won't be able to receive our scores until the end of June.

Anybody else want to make a new thread that lists all of the schools that have been contacted by members and for sure do not require sending our DAT scores through ADA? I would start the thread, but I wont be able to update it often enough due to my work schedule.

hey dre-

before. im submitting as soon as i get 100 shadowing hours, which i project to be in the first week of july. im taking DAT at end of july. Why?

im confused. so my dentpin and bday is in my AADSAS app, but what else do i need to do in my application in terms of DAT scores? is there a box for it? also, what about retakes? how do i indicate?

and what is the conclusion to this thread? do we have AADSAS take care of it?

They're not uploading the the scores until the end of June.

Call your individual schools to make sure whether they do or don't need an extra copy directly from the ADA (There's another thread with a list, but use the info at your own risk).
