So what now? For a good ole boy like me with a couple interviews, OK stats, a WL or two and no As yet.

Do I expect more IIs now that thanksgiving is over? Do I despair and start reapplying? I feel like I’ve been building up thanksgiving but now that it’s come and gone I’m in purgatory. The Thanksgiving rule seems to be everything but idk what it means for those who have some interviews but not like stellar 5+. It’s weird to be coming up on my last interview without another one on the horizon, and my hope waxes and wanes based on my mood. Many here have As, and I am unsure if that is where I should be now.

(Posted this on Reddit but wanted to ask here.)

My advice is always prepare for a re-app. I don't know what you have to fix with your app, but continue working towards them until you have an A in hand if you want to re-apply again immediately.

Currently, I only have one II and am preparing for a MCAT retake. As hellish as it is, I'd rather be ready for a retake come April then start cramming or pushing my cycle back another year.

Also, Thanksgiving is not a deadstop rule. I don't know why people place it on such a pedestal. There are plenty of people who get II post-thanksgiving. You may or may not be one of them. Continue to work towards a re-app.

You had an interview (or more than one!) before Thanksgiving so you are ahead of the curve. There may be more interviews ahead; time will tell. he next juncture brings into play the Mardi Gras rule which is that you should have one offer by Mardi Gras (March 1 this year). That's three months away!!

You should always be working toward a better application in an upcoming cycle, if that becomes necessary, but you can't actually start a new application until next Spring so kick back a bit and enjoy the ride to Mars.

Sounds good! I've been blessed to have three, but one turned into a WL and one is very likely to be a WL so I've just been shaking in my boots a bit. Being on here and Reddit I think provides a very skewed comparison.

Thanks Lizzy!

Some schools will hold back on making offers but tell you that you are on the waitlist. They are waiting for the mushy middle to firm up before they go down the list and make offers to everyone who will get an offer (sometimes the superstars get offers in the late fall/early winter; some schools hold off making any offers until late winter.)

Let's hope that the old saying, "Interviews three, a doctor you'll be!" holds true for you.

Hopefully! The one WL was a state school (WVU) for which I am out of state. I did not know about the mushy middle so that was good perspective!
