Applied to 44 schools, 4 rejections, 2 holds, 0 interviews. There is nothing more i want than the ability to help someone by being a doctor. This is my childhood dream that seems to be getting farther and farther each day.

A tad bit dramatic?

Wish you the best.

Well your stats are a bit below average, so it may just be that schools are making you wait a little longer. You must be patient. It is only October. Maybe you should just stay off SDN for a month? I'm sure you'll get at least 1/44. Good luck!

Guyz...I only have 14 interviews out of 15 applications and Hopkins rejekted me. Iz I scrood?

OP, it's still early. I'd recommend worrying when 2011 rolls around and you don't have interviews. Then you can look into improving your app with updates and/or finding things to do.

what is with all these threads lately bemoaning the complete/semi lack of interviews? All of a sudden the competition for the most pathetic person on SDN is as heated as the competition to be the most successful person on SDN.

I would guess, its the terrible feeling of having spent $5000 seemingly down the drain. Oh and all the costs associated with working your butt off in school and the MCAT..and not having any good news coming your wait watsover.

Also, I am kind of worried how some of you people are going to be doctors. You have no compassion skills watsoever.

sorry bro. that plain sucks. I hope things turn around in the near future.

I know someone who is doing only "a bit" worse. I was at the clinic yesterday and saw a patient who just got diagnosed with AML. Unless he finds a donor, he is not living past 2 month.

some schools will wait till they get the fall 2010 results - so don't worry about it - i have 0 interviews - 1 hold - 0 rejects

im worried too.... im worried too

To be honest, it must suck. However, if you are still in CA, you should get seen by a physician for depression and ask for a cannabis card.

It's because we are on the internet, people tend to say crazy stuff.

Relax. You still have 38 schools you've yet to hear from.

38.

SDN is like a support group. We can commiserate and encourage each other; or simply, it's good place to find out if our situation is unique (like the OP wants to)
.
If you feel like you are above this, just don't click and read the thread. Simple as that. Don't waste your breath with negative comments. I'm sure you'd be worried if you were in the OP's situation.

OP: I've heard of people asking the schools that rejected them about the reasons why it happened. Perhaps you can find out if there was one shortcoming that you can address in updates.

I'm sure most everyone wishes you well.

But aside from the drama, what grabs attention is that you applied to so many schools. It's hard to understand your thinking that applying to 44 schools was a thoughtful approach. Whether you are successful or not, your costs are unnecessarily high because your list is too long.

OP, there are plenty of us that feel you pain.

Last year I applied and got 1 early interview. This year my application is much better all around and I have 0 interviews so far and a handful of rejections.

I don't have any consoling remarks, just some misery I'm willing to share with you 🙂

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to sound as harsh as I did. I was trying to comment on the fact that there are like 15 threads just like this and I was amused to find a new one. It's easy for a light remark to come off as mean online.

Honestly, the OP has every right to be upset and I'd certainly be concerned if I were in that situation. But on the positive side, it's only October. It's not time to start freaking out yet. There are plenty of interviews left out there.

👍 My mistake, my reading comprehension ain't what it used to be.

This is my third year applying, I didn't get interviews for 2 years strait.

Also, if this is really true: "There is nothing more i want than the ability to help someone by being a doctor" then apply to DO schools.

DO schools train you to become a doctor and you work in healthcare helping people. If that's your dream and you are rejected from MD schools then go DO. 👍

I am applying DO already

hang in there. it's not over yet!

You've only been complete at most schools for a few weeks, from what I can gather from your previous posts. I'm sure you're stressed out--but don't give up all hope yet (i.e. breathe--give schools a chance to review your file)!

Anyone else here completed in late August and not getting any interviews?
3.95c 3.98s 34O all out of state 🙁

applied to 19 rejected from 3, and 2 on hold.

Applied to 35 programs. Withdrew from 2. Rejected from 5, and 2 on hold. I'm getting paranoid.

Aww OP, that is a bummer. Why don't you explain your situation to them?

http://www.asianews.it/files/img/INDIA_PoorPeople.jpg

Perhaps they can shed some light on it…..oh wait nvm because they don't have ****. See life sucks for everyone at some angle or another. Grow a pair and deal with it, or go crying back to your mom.

^ Well my patience has limits. I know the process is stressful, and I know that many people are worried, but constantly moping about it isn't going to make the situation any lighter. A lot of people have it a lot worse off.

Don't worry about it.

I got in on my 3rd try (after raising my grades and stats)... and now I'm undergoing another set of interviews, this time, for residency.

It's too early to panic. I suggest taking up drinking. Or snorkeling. Or playstation. Hell, why not all 3?

THIS. Just hopefully not all 3 at the same time..

Actually, many sociological and psychological studies have suggested that there isn't much link between so-called "quality of life" and happiness. Many people in developing countries are far happier than most Americans.

Just because other people suffer more than we do, does not negate our own suffering. That's like going up to a dude that just had his sister die and be like "well both of my parents were murdered last week, so shut up." How does that make sense?

My point is that everyone suffers at some angle. You mope to me about your sister, ill cry to you about my parents. Or, we can just all realize that life sucks and we all have to deal with it. Crying over the admissions process isn't going to make those acceptances come any faster.

This is one thread within an entire website for pre-meds to talk about whatever the hell they want. If you don't like it or it bothers you, don't click on the f*cking link, jerkoff.

I wish the OP the very best.
I know the situation can be stressful...
I am a reapp and have only one interview at this point. 🙁

Find some other way to kill your time!
Sometimes, reading SDN about other people's kick butt stats make me nervous, so I resist temptation and go off the site for a bit.

Also, this is a website with tons of members.
Many people are nice and very helpful, but there are inconsiderate people too.
Just listen to the positives!
I just hope they don't become my doctor.

That was really sweet. Would you like to hold my hand?

Sorry for your pain.

Why didn't you apply to any of your state medical schools (which according to your MDApps is FL)? You would have likely recieved interviews from several of them.

I agree. Based off most of the posts on these fourms, it seems that medical schools are accepting cut-throats instead of individuals who demonstrate compassion towards others. I am tired of seeing so many acceptances go to children of doctors who have no ounce of decency in them (this does not mean all children of doctors are heartless). Good luck to you. If this is your dream, never let it die and never give up. You deserve to be a doctor.
