When you are a doctor, patients will share with you some of their most private and stressful moments. Will you also lecture them about poverty in India and tell them to suck it up, because there are people who have it far worse?
Don't use another applicant's request for emotional support as an opportunity to think "See I can take it, but he can't" and boost your own ego. If you truly are all about "growing a pair," then you should have enough integrity to overcome such selfish thoughts and reach out to someone who is asking for compassion. Or at least keep quiet.

Hang in there. Most of us are just as stressed as you are, so we feel your pain. You applied to 44 schools, so you still have a lot of possibilities left. One of my friends last year didn't get into med school until June, so it's definitely a long-term process.
