I know those are the different categories of norms; but any other mechanism for social control?

There are many mechanisms of social control. You can think of social norms in two categories and this helps keep them clear. Formal Social Control and Informal Social Control. Formal are things like laws and sanctions that are enforced by an authoritative figure. Informal would be things like norms but also shame, ridicule, criticism, etc...
