What's up DOs,

I just want to ask a quick question. Are you guys enjoying the social culture at your school? It's not that I hate everyone but I find a lot of people have these huge egos (especially the DO professors). Not only that but everyone is in a cliché. I don't know it's not that I don't know or hangout with anyone but I find it mentally draining to be around this env. all day. It has me worried about my work environment after I leave school. Are all of my future colleagues going to be like this? Sometimes I feel like I don't fit in and this definitely wouldn't be the crowd who I be around during college.

Idk where you're at, but my class in general seems to be pretty chill. Sure, there are some people with egos and plenty of people that seem to be in their own little clique, but I can at least get along decently with most people. Yes, you're going to encounter arrogant d-bags throughout your career. It's just the nature of medicine. There are plenty of people that are "normal" though. Other than one person, my preceptors have all been pretty humble and really easy going. The one that had an ego is legit one of the best guys in his field in our metro area and he was still a good guy overall. So no, not all of your future colleagues will have egos, but you'll probably be encountering them for the rest of your career.

I will straight up tell you that I HATE the majority of my classmates. Bunch of very backstabbing, clique oriented hypercompetitive people and a lot of bull**** clique drama where groups of people do the silent treatment with other groups of people. I can't wait to get the hell out of my school and start clinicals next year. Sadly I'm looking forward to studying for boards cause that'll be off campus and I'll never have to see those in my class during that time. So... yeah I feel you on what you're talking about

My kids are definitely not like this. My colleagues are very humble and fun to be around, except the True Believers. But even the latter are nice people.

You have my sympathies.

Seek out your good classmates. They're in there.

The social environment at my school is great, there are a few people that I don't like, but they are avoidable. Agree with goro's advice, easier said than done tho

People literally made faces today when I went up to their cliques to say hi to people I'm acquaintances with. It just leaves a bitter taste in my mouth because I thought this crap would end in HS

Oh and not to mention someone asked an OMM professor the other day a question that he already kind of mentioned and he belittled him in front of the whole class and talked to him like he was slow in front of our whole class.

Nut up, bro.
