Can someone explain to me why

CuCl2 is soluble but CuCl isn't?

Think of ionization energies. It is much easier to remove the first electron than it is the second. H2SO4 is easily deprotonated once, but removing the second hydrogen is much more difficult. If you put CuCl in hydrochloric acid, it is very soluble. It has to do with the stability of Cu(2+) and the 'comfort' that it receives from other atoms.
