I’ve been admitted to both CHSU and SOMA. SOMA happened quite last minute. I feel conflicted now. What’s the community thought on these two? I was also admitted to LMU-DCOM but was leaning heavily towards CHSU. Does anyone know what the major differences are? Class sizes at SOMA? How likely am I to get a CHC assignment in CA or NY?

I’m waitlisted at UIWTX and Rowan.
Post II- I’ve heard nothing from PCOM Philly, NYITCOM, WesternU, or Touro Nevada... how likely am I to hear from any of these at this point? My only remaining MD is Howard-any chance at an interview at this point?

Please give me as much info as you can! Anything helps in my decision process. I’m visiting CHSU today, and am wondering if I should fly through PDX on the way back.

Rising OMS-2 at SOMA

If you've been following the 2020-2021 SOMA thread (link), then you'll know that SOMA is transitioning to a PBL curriculum for the class of 2025 and beyond. That could a be pro or con depending on your learning style.

Class size at SOMA is currently 160 and there are talks about increasing it to 200 in the coming years.

If you're accepted late in the cycle, then the chances of getting a california CHC are very slim. You have a slightly higher chance of getting into the NY CHC.
  • Since you can trade CHC spots with students, technically there is a non-zero chance of you successfully swapping CHCs with students to get into cali/NYC but I wouldn't bank on that.
Personally I feel that students should stay away from brand new DO schools such as CHSU.

This late into the cycle, you can cross off PCOM, NYITCOM, and WesternU. Touro Nevada might contact you. I'm, unsure about Howard.

Since you've been admitted to SOMA and LMU, def drop CHSU. I'm sure it's a great school, but it's new and doesn't provide federal loans. Between SOMA and LMU, I would pick LMU only because it'll save you ~$32,000 by the time you graduate.
