What months of the year can you take DAT?
Can you take DAT in Jan or Feb,then submit AADSAS in Apr or May.
or you have to submit AADSAS before you take DAT ???
If the result is not good, can you retake in June and July ???
and how will you deal with DAT test score?
you have to send it yourself or AADSAS sends it for you?
plz sharing your experience. thank you very much 😍

You can take DAT almost any month/day of the year. Most take it the summer that they are applying.

You can take the DAT in Jan or Feb and submit AADSAS in April or May, you don't have to submit AADSAS before you take the DAT.

The DAT is run by the ADA and AADSAS is run by the ADEA - your scores don't go through AADSAS, they are sent directly to the schools you designate by the ADA.

If you take the DAT now and do poorly you can re-take in the summer. There is a 3 month waiting period after you take the test before you can re-take it.

I submitted AADSAS at the end of May and I took the DAT at the end of June anb both my AADSAS application and DAT scores arrived at schools at about the same time.

You can pretty much take the DAT whenever you'd like. You just have to register for a test date by filling out some information, and when you do that, you designated the dental schools that you want the testing company to send your scores to. Yes, you can retake you DATs 90 days (or more) after you took it the first time.

is there any way we can take the DATs around Jan or Feb. and then apply for the next year cycle? For example, if it was Jan 2009 and I want to apply for 2010, can I take the DAT then and send it..and if I don't do well, I can take it like in April?

AADSAS opens on May 15. The earlier you get it filled out and submitted with all your supplemental (transcripts and LORs) the better off you will be. I don't remember the raw numbers but a ton of people apply every year through AADSAS. Toward the end of the summer into the fall there turn around in getting your application mailed to the schools gets longer and longer. Ask for your for your LORs early and give them a deadline of May 15th. Most schools will not review your application until all materials have been received. Meaning even if they have received your application from AADSAS if the LORs or a LOR is missing they will not review your application. Do the same with your transcripts. Most universities will allow you to submit a request early checking a box stating you want the transcript sent to the address (AADSAS) after your spring grades have been submitted. Anyway do you get my point? EARLY EARLY EARLY!!! Good luck with your upcoming cycle!!!

If you take the DAT in Jan 2009 and your applying for 2010 I am assuming your meaning beginning the application in May 2009 for the Class starting 2010 right? Most schools that I research state that they want all takes of the DAT submitted but will only count your MOST recent take toward your application. If you decide to retake the DAT you must wait 90 days before your next attempt. So your right if you take in Jan or Feb you should be able to take in April or May.
Good Luck!

IMO thats the best thing to do....take DAT in Jan/Feb.....if you are happy with the scores then good to go.....otherwise retake it during the summer....
atleast thats what i did....i will be applying in this summer....i studied all through my winter break and took DAT on 30th Jan.......
If i wouldnt have been satisfied with my scores then i had plans of taking it over the summer.....
But always think "FIRST ATTEMPT IS LAST your ATTEMPT"......it looks bad if you took your first attempt just to get a feel of it.....

I'm not sure how one could decifer how you approach the dat, but other than that I agree with this.

I took the dat in january because it gave me a get out of jail card if i did screw it up. Luckily,i didnt have to retake. additionally, I'd get the dat over with asap. With all the stresses involved in the actual application process, I couldnt imagine adding the stress of studying for the dat simultaneously.
