Hi,

I'm sorry if this is going to be a long thread, but I would like some information or guidance if you guys could give me some. So as of right now, I'm in my senior year of college, and I plan on graduating this spring. I'm a biology major and unfortunately my gpa is very low. I would have to say around a 2.2 or 2.3, I was planning on moving back home after I graduated and do a post bac at a nearby state school or community college.

My plan was to do a post bac to improve my gpa, while volunteering at a hospital to improve my extra curricular, try to get into a masters program, and ideally go to med school. I am unsure of how long this process will take but I'm willing to forgo it.

I'll continue my thread when I go home.

Sorry about that everyone, I was at the library when I was typing this thread when my roommate came to pick me up

So today while I was filling out my financial aid for the next school year, I started to look into post bac programs at the colleges near my house. I looked into SJSU, CSU Hayward, and De Anza college. My first choice was going to be SJSU since I live only about 20 minutes away from it, however I recently found out they are not accepting post bacs this year due to the california budget cuts. SFSU also do not accept post bac starting spring 09. I'm unsure about de anza and hayward, so I still have to look into that.

People at SJSU told me I can still take classes as an open university student, which means I won't be able to get financial aid. Just recently the source of income of my family stopped, so I am really unsure of how I'll be able to pay for college. I thought financial aid would help me with that, but if I'm not a post bac student or a graduate I won't be able to get any help. I know that to improve my undergrad gpa I need to take undergrad courses, so I really don't know what to do now.

So what do you guys think I should do? Should I try to enroll as an open student and find a part time job to pay for the tuition? I also need to volunteer at a hospital to up my extra curricular. I didn't join into any clubs or anything during my 4 years in college, which I greatly regret now. The only thing I picked up from college besides a lot of science courses would have to be learning the guitar.

Thank you for all your help =)

I'd probably take some classes at a CC if you can't afford to take classes at a CSU, work while you do it, then start to take classes at a CSU as an open student.

So after reading around the forums and looking up on google about online gpa calculators, it seems like with my poor gpa I'm going to need a lot of units. Probably around 160-180. =(

And that is to just get my gpa up to around a 3.0, what should I do? I really want to be a doctor, and I truly believe that my gpa during these past four years do not represent what I am capable of. I just turned 22 about 2 months ago and I'm starting to think right now about my future.

At what age do you guys think I can make it into medical school?

Thanks
