I’m a sophomore at a well-known liberal arts college, and I just started my premed coursework this fall. When I was in high school, I took a year of English at my local community college and was wondering if med schools would look down upon my application if I took psych and math over the summer at the same community college. All of the schools that I’ve been looking at say they accept community college classes, but I’m not sure if 4 is too many.

It's best to avoid taking pre-reqs at community college while you are enrolled in a 4-year institution.

Just because schools accept CC coursework doesn't mean that it's a preferable route. Just offhand, I know Boston University makes the distinction between "preferred" (4-year) and "other" (CC/AP credits) coursework. It's this way for other medical schools, too. If you can take all your prerequisites at your liberal arts college, that would be best. Otherwise, it could appear like you're trying to earn easy As. especially since you already have access to these classes at your current 4-year college.

It is my understanding that CC credits are given more leeway when the premed has a compelling reason for them - e.g., they do not live near a 4 year institution, they're in the military and move around a lot, they work full-time to support their family and only their local CC offers night classes, etc.
