I want to take the DAT towards the end of this summer, but do not want to apply to schools until the end of this next fall so that my GPA can get that extra boost I'm sure of achieving. Should I go ahead and take the DAT, finish this next fall semester, and then apply the ending of the spring of 2015 which is when I graduate? Will my DAT scores "roll over" so to speak? Thank you for any all advice I really appreciate it.

Best,
Booshiba

edit: Basically I'm asking...can I take the DAT while I'm ready for it...and keep that score until I'm ready to apply once my GPA is within my liking?

Yeah I figured the score would be good for a while. I feel I would be most ready this summer since I'm fresh out of ochem I/II. I'm already going to purchase the necessary materials and so far this is the list of things I'm going to get. I'm following someone else's study package from on here..shhhh!

Chad's General Chemistry Videos

DAT Destroyer and Math Destroyer 2014

Cliff's Biology

Ferali's Notes

DAT Bootcamp

Crack DAT PAT

Kaplan Blue Book (maybe)

2007/2009 ADA exams

Now I just registered and got my DENTPIN. Do I apply for the DAT on the ADA website? I have zero guidance from anyone so any and all help is greatly appreciated : )

The ADA website tells you pretty much everything you need to know to take the DAT, so actually read it!

Your study materials are perfect.

Yeah just started reading the DAT guide. Getting late though so got to get to sleep. Will finish second half tomorrow. Thank you for saying they are the perfect study materials. I am starting to get excited the closer I get the more real it all feels.

Okay so I just purchased the following and have some new questions...I have so far: DAT Destroyer, Math Destroyer, Organic Chemistry Odyssey, Ferali's Notes(downloaded)

My questions: I found Chad's Gen. Chem. videos on this link (http://www.coursesaver.com/videos/DAT/) Will these work?
In reference to the Cliff's Biology notes, are these the ones you see on ebay with a black/yellow color scheme and they say AP Biology on them? 3rd edition 4th edition etc.?

I found the DAT bootcamp website and I figure I'll give those tests a run once I've studied. As for Crack DAT PAT I can only find a Royal flush and an Ace edition bundle and they are pretty expensive...do I really fork over the money for the Crack DAT PAT? and if so which one do you all recommend?

I found the Kaplan Blue Book for ~$40.00 USD at a local Barnes and Noble.
The 2007/2009 ADA exams I figure I'll get somewhere online.

Thanks again for reading my stuff this forum really is my only resource of information and guidance so yeah...thank you all!

Best,
Booshiba

Ohh, and my Ferali's Notes were a word document download that I found online..here is a link to what those look like just to confirm that I have the correct material and not a condensed or lesser version...( http://datbootcamp.com/feralis-biology-notes/ )

edit: The Destroyers and Orgo. Odyssey come directly from Orgoman and are the ones with the white paper and simple black text on the cover.

Just wanted to mention I just got a research position in an organic chemistry lab with my old o. chem. professor. Here is the layout of how it is all going to work.

Beginning roughly at the end of May if not then the 1st of June.

Mon. Wed. Fri.(9am-6pm)-Pure DAT study days, no research. BUT, I he has offered me the empty office next to his in the lab as a study room and says anytime I need a break from studying, I can do some simple tasks nothing major.
Tue. Thu.(9am-~10pm)- Pure lab work. Since some experiments do not require eyes on attention for the entirety of the reaction, during these hours I can be studying in my office. When attention to detail is required I will be back at the experiment hood.

Sat. Sun. - More of a calm study approach with the full open option of going out (not drinking) just enjoying the summer with my girlfriend and maybe going to the river and tubing or washing my car things of that sort. But at least 3 hours of solid studying will get done.

This is the schedule I have set for myself. I do not think it is unrealistic that it can be done. I have already been accepted to take the DAT and it is available to me until 10/24/14. I plan to take it at the end of August granted all my summer studies go as well as planned. Basically it's 3 months of solid studying and lab work. I've got my tight vest on and my fists are clenched...I'm ready to work my ******* butt off.

The important question is....does your ochem professor know your middle name?

Lol probably not! Oh and about that...I'll update it in that thread.

I can schedule my test date any time I want correct? I have until 10-24-2014 to take it...I can any reasonable time before then to schedule correct? There is no deadline on that?

edit: ALSO...As a biology major does it matter what you choose as concentration? I was thinking neurobiology but now I'm not sure if it even matters or if I should just pick the easiest one...

To the first question: I'd try to schedule at least 3 weeks in advance. Otherwise, you might not get the time/date/location you want. (Heck, even 2 weeks out, you still might not.) If you sign up soon before it, you have to be a flexible.

To the second question--pick whatever concentration you want. Easiest is fine. 😀

Shpank you. Shpank you berry much.

Would a question like this actually be on the DAT?
Which statement is true?
A.) Marine fish rarely urinate, but constantly drink
B.) Fresh water fish urinate constantly but rarely drink
C.) Many fresh water animals have very dilute urine
D.) Marine bony fish have isotonic urine; while freshwater bony fish have dilute urine
E.) All are correct (Correct answer)

I never learned this kind of stuff in any of my bio courses. DAT Destroyer for bio has a super wide spectrum of biology questions...generally which type can I get away with not going super deep into?

I learned about this in one of my biology classes. This is part of vertebrate anatomy/physiology, so it's possible that it would be on the DAT.

The only vertebrate course I have taken was online. I got an A but it was online so nothing was really learned and the exams were just repeat of the questions from the "exercises".
