Soon to be MSIIs, when will you begin board prep?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
where is everyone getting their Goljan lectures? Yes, I tried googling it, but mostly it leads to different forums. Thanks!

To my knowledge, there aren't any Goljan audio lectures. I guess one could start by checking MegaDownload... I've never looked though.

Are you still using GT and Rx for the year?

I will be using GT but I'm not getting Rx.
i noticed the GT seemed to correlate pretty decently with FA so Im going to use that and Uworld throughout the year and refresh Uworld (or wahtever its called) before my dedicated study time to go through it a 2nd time.

haha there are goljan lectures... but i thnk maybe you should try to ask older students for them and stuff bc i have not been able to find them in legit sources.

i wish there was a free trial of rx/kaplan so i could check them out first

It's hard to tell sarcasm through the internet. It's even harder when the post you made is straightforward like that. Usually people add a 😉 or 😛 or 😎 or 🙄 or something to help people out. 😀

haha ok 🙄 😉

I was gonna do GT through the year along with a qbank (on the weekends). I was gonna really start studying more seriously in the spring. I am gonna do a course with Kaplan in the spring and DIT closer to when I will be taking the exam.

What is GT? Thanks.

Worrying about Step 1 is what is going to cause the most stress during 2nd year. Otherwise, it's not too much worse than 1st year (and was actually way more interesting in my opinion).

How you study for Step 1 will depend on your goals and specifically how your school allocates time for dedicated Step 1 study time. I did almost no preparation for Step 1 prior to the 5-6 weeks we were allocated for Step 1 studying after our final exam. Like many of you, I bought all my review books in advance thinking I would have time/motivation to go through them during second year. I ended up reading a couple of pages and feeling like it was a waste of time since most of the information were the high points from second year, and not all the nitty-gritty detail I needed for my exams. All my studying was done in a 5-6 week period before my test, and I ended up doing quite well. Granted, it was an intense 5-6 week study period, but I think I would have burned out earlier if I had started earlier and ended up doing worse.

If you feel stressed out thinking about the exam this early, then stay away from threads like these and avoid people who constantly talk about Step 1 prep. You don't need that kind of pressure. 2nd year will prepare you just fine for the exam, and you can fill in any gaps later as your test date approaches.

Yeah, I realized that later. The reason I didn't think you were being sarcastic was because your first post on this thread was a freakout about only getting 35% on practice USMLE's, despite the fact that you haven't taken any of the M2 courses which make up the majority of Step 1, so I had pictured you as kind of clueless.

Then again, if I had read that post more carefully, I would have realized you said you listened to Goljan audio. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
