Congrats, South. Now you can sign your e-mail "Pharm.D. candidate".
only allowed during final year, after didactic.

I thought as long as you went to school, you can add that to your title? I've done that since I started here. Oh well, no one has ever said anything to me!

We received word at orientation that we were "pharmacy students" until our didactic coursework was completed (early in our 3rd (last) year), at which time we become "pharm.D. candidates".

what does it really matter? Just call yourselves P-I, P-II, etc. That should work just fine.

I can't see why in that case PI, PII etc won't suffice. When I send formal correspondence to anyone I'm M-III Yadda Yadda School of Medicine..

Couldn't you just put:

Richard Head
P-II, UT-Austin School of Pharmacy

I guess it's really semantics, but I was just trying to help... 😉

I personally prefer to say Pharm.D.candidate since it sounds more professional and less awkward.

As a first year student, I used the title "Pharm.D. candidate" in a letter to a therapist where I tried to convince her to discontinue thioridazine for the patient (a relative by marriage), who was taking paroxetine concurrently and exhibiting signs of toxicity and other ill effects. If I had said I was a first year pharmacy student my chances of being taken seriously would have been lower. And, if I had not been able to use a professional sounding title, I do not know that I would have had the guts to voice my concerns in the format that I did.

ps - My dad's name was Richard Peck. He went by "Dick". No joke!

I knew a computer salesman back in the 80's. His name was Dick Blower.

I can see how using PharmD candidate would definitely have its advantages...

Just glad that a few folks out there had their sarcasm meter on and caught my "Richard Head" reference. 😀
