I've been told by some dentists that you will need teeth when you start dental school. Is this true for most schools? If so, just curious as to how you all got your hands on 'em and where the best place would be to get some good teeth. Thank you.

Okay, I was just re-reading my post and I realized how stupid this sounded. I'm not talking about the teeth in YOUR mouth but other peoples extracted teeth to use as a model or whatever you use them for in dental school. Sorry for the mix-up

Yes, supposedly you will need extracted teeth for school, so far we have only used them as examples to study for your dental anatomy tooth id quiz. I think we are going to grind some down later to look at roots, and you may need them for some endo stuff.
if you are near a school or hospital, go to the oral surgery dept and ask them to collect them for you, or if you can hang out and get them yourself. Or you can go to a gp's office and ask them, but you may only get 3rd m's. If you can get a lot of anteriors, i guarantee your classmates will be begging you for them!😀

Hey Lakers,
I think isaw you are going to Temple where I am currently attending. Get about 2 to 4 pint size jars of teeth that do not have restorations in them (i.e. amalgam / composite). We use them for Restorative 2 and Endo. The more the better and you can sell them to the dumbies that forget to bring them to school...kepp it real

So I can sell 'em huh? Maybe I can trade 'em for other teeth I need...kind of like baseball cards. I'll make sure to collect plenty😀 . By the way, are restoration-less teeth hard to come by?

yup, of course restoration less teeth are hard to come by. Just think like this: Why anyone would want to yank his/her tooth out if there is nothing wrong with it?
Guess why restoration-less teeth get extracted, Lakers?

Here are two reasons for pulling teeth with no restorations:
1)Lots of crowding, and the teeth are getting pulled for ortho.
2) So much bone loss from periodontal disease, the teeth are now very mobile and almost at the point of being able to self-extract (a "finger" extraction)

These scenarios do happen, but being there, ready with your jar to scoop up the restoration-free teeth might be hard to arrange. Just put out lots of jars and periodically remind the dentists the jars are there, and you should get enough teeth for a good selection for yourself. Then sell the extras.
