While I fully intend to update my AACOMAS record with this semester's grades since I earned all A's (remarkable, but true!) does anyone know if this information is sent to the schools right away? If not, would it be beneficial to send those schools that I've not yet heard from an update directly? And if so, do I need to make it an official transcript (which costs me $7 a piece - quite a lot when you are poor) or do you think an unofficial grade report would suffice?

Questions, questions! Input is appreciated!

Your school receives a newly computed GPA, but does not receive the individual grades. If you want them to see that, then you must send them a new transcript. Some schools won't even look at an unofficial transcript. You need to ask them individually.

Just to clarify things a bit, when you send an updated transcript to AACOMAS they will recalcualte your GPA and this is what will be seen by the individual medical schools only, not the actual classes? Also, how long after AACOMAS receives the updated transcript will it take AACOMAS to recalculate your GPA?

Do whatever you have to ensure admissions committees have all the info.

Better to be over zealous than not. It shows how much you want it...and as a MS1 I think wanting it is as important or more so than GPA.

You should wait until the winter class is over. That's what I'm doing. It makes no sense to pay the $7 now and then pay it again to reflect the winter class in a couple of weeks. Then, just have it sent to AACOMAS. They send the schools the update. I don't think there would be much difference from the schools' standpoints whether the updated info is received now or in a month. I'm sure your status is not riding on one semester of grades. Your gpa is already good. Save yourself the money and wait a few weeks.
